Shocking Rumors: Is Teen Mom: The Next Chapter Facing Cancellation?

Something is going on with Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, as the show's future is unknown. Teen Mom veteran Amber Portwood has been trying to get the fans to stop tuning in on Thursday night, and now she shared on TikTok that she is trying to get the show cancelled. However, the production team behind Teen Mom has shared that that's not the case. On TikTok Live, Portwood shared her plans to get the hit MTV show cancelled, as she feels that the show is preventing her from reuniting with her estranged daughter, Leah Shirley. “If [the show] isn’t cancelled, I’ll get it cancelled,” she said to another TikTok creator during her live. “[The ball] is already in my court, honey. I promise that.”

Is 'Teen Mom: The Next Chapter' Getting Cancelled?

She had previously revealed that Gary Shirley had been forcing her to film with the show, which ties into the reason why she feels fans should stop watching Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. In a separate TikTok Live, she slammed viewers for siding with Shirley and said, “I have sacrificed 17 years of my f**king life to live in hell. Not because of the show, but because of a person and you guys are like, ‘We stand with him.’ I can’t even say certain things now. This world is messed up. [He] was begging me, ‘Please come back on the show! We can’t pay our bills!'”

Amber Portwood Claims That ‘Teen Mom’ Will Get Cancelled

In the TikTok Live, Portwood claimed to have intel about Teen Mom: The Next Chapter and the production. She shared that Teen Mom: The Next Chapter may get cancelled, which comes after a season of disappointing ratings. Because she wants fans to boycott the show, she did not seem fazed about the show’s future. “I think the show’s getting cancelled, you guys,” Portwood said. “God works in mysterious ways, y’all! I wish I could say more. Is that in my contract? Nope.” Portwood then laughed and clapped, stating, “It’s not a bad thing for it to be done, it’s time, but if you keep graspin’ at straws for s**t, eventually it’s gonna go.”

Portwood then reflected on her life once Teen Mom is laid to rest and shared her hopes of rebuilding her relationship with her daughter. “I look at [my relationship] with my son [James], and I see the potential in [my relationship with] Leah. But what I see is MTV in the way,” she shared. Portwood also addressed Leah and stated that she may feel differently about their relationship once Teen Mom ends, stating, “I think when this show is gone, you’ll be able to live a normal life, hopefully, and you’ll be able to see how you feel, maybe in a couple years, babe. Give it a couple of years. [Get] more experience, out in the real world.”

Despite Portwood sharing what the future of the show may hold, the production team says otherwise. The production team spoke with The Ashley’s Reality Roundup and shared that they have not heard that Teen Mom is getting cancelled. However, they are on a hiatus.

We are currently on hiatus, and, of course, there’s never a guarantee that we’ll be picked up again,” a source told the outlet. “But we’ve heard absolutely nothing about it being cancelled, so I have no clue what she means. Also, Amber thinking that she would have any power to cancel the show is ridiculous. To my knowledge, she has not been officially let go, though, but she’s basically asking to be fired, so it’s doubtful she will continue on.”

The future of the show may not be dire, however, Portwood’s position on Teen Mom is under threat. Portwood not being invited to the Teen Mom: The Next Chapter reunion is a sign, as a source shared that Portwood was not invited to the reunion because her estranged daughter did not want her there. “She wouldn’t have been able to be open if Amber had been there,” a source revealed. As Portwood’s position on the show has been threatened, viewers can stay tuned to Collider for updates.
