Should The Bruins Trade Morgan Geekie?

The Boston Bruins currently do not have a playoff spot, and they are expected to make roster changes by this week's trade deadline. Pending unrestricted free agents like Trent Frederic and Justin Brazeau appear to be the most likely to be traded by the Bruins. However, pending restricted free agent Morgan Geekie has also been creating some buzz.

On the latest episode of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman mentioned Geekie as a player to keep an eye on this week.

"It will be interesting to see what they do with Morgan Geekie," Friedman said. "There is another year of team control, although RFA... I think there were some attempts to try to extend him this year, which, obviously, didn't happen. I'd be curious to see where that one goes with him."

With Geekie remaining under team control after this season, they do not need to rush a trade. However, at the same time, his trade value is undoubtedly high right now. He has played spectacularly down the stretch, posting 10 goals and 14 points over his last 18 games. He also scored a career-high 19 goals this season and has 32 points in 57 contests.

If the Bruins want to sell high on Geekie, now would be the time. However, his impressive play and great chemistry with superstar David Pastrnak also help the argument that the Bruins should keep him around. Geekie has been one of Boston's top players this season, so there would certainly be risk in trading him. There are not too many Bruins who are producing as well as him offensively right now.
