The Maven believes that if Sidney Crosby does not sign a contract extension with the Penguins soon, there could be trouble brewing in Pittsburgh.
Remember when everyone got hot and bothered a few months ago when The Maven postulated how Sidney Crosby someday could become a Ranger?
Well it's time to get either hot or bothered – or both – again.
The Penguins reportedly have made several kinds of offers to their Darling Boy and, so far, the captain has not signed. He doesn't want to be associated with yet another loser.
Therefore, the longer he keeps the pen in his pocket, the more likely the chances that he'll leave the first worst NHL franchise in Pennsylvania.
Look at it this way; he can't be overjoyed with an over-his-head loser GM like/ Kyle Dubas. Instead of fixing The Good Ship Penguin, in one short year Dubas who has torpedoed it; same as he did with the Maple Leafs.
How can Sidney look ahead with promise if his bosom buddies, Geno Malkin and Kris Letang are headed to Methuselah Land? Not to mention that Erik Karlsson is the biggest waste of money since Dubas signed John Tavares.
If you're Crosby you'd want to get with a winner; maybe even one that holds the most-non-coveted prize in hockey, the Presidents' Trophy.
Just what Chris Drury would have to do to lure Sidney to the Isle of Joy is the GM's problem, not The Maven's.
But if I've said it once I've said it 101 times; if the Rangers could get Wayne Gretzky and if the Rangers could get Mark Messier and if the Ranger could get Matt Rempe and overnight turn the Skating Giraffe into an idol more popular than McDavid; anything IS possible.
And it would take the Garden Faithful approximately 6.8 seconds to embrace Sidney as their one And Only!
