Simon Cowell Fires Back at Rigging Rumors: “I’d Take a Lie Detector to Prove BGT Isn’t Fixed!”

Simon Cowell is setting the record straight. During a recent interview on This Morning, the Britain’s Got Talent judge fiercely denied claims that the show is staged — especially in light of backlash surrounding Max Fox’s surprise Golden Buzzer moment.

Fox, a 35-year-old singer, stunned both the judges and audience when he stepped out from the crowd to perform Frank Sinatra’s “My Way,” earning Amanda Holden’s coveted Golden Buzzer. However, fans quickly raised suspicions, accusing the show of scripting the emotional performance.

“I swear to God it wasn’t set up,” Cowell insisted on air. “I actually thought someone planted him and told the producers. I was like, ‘Come on, this must be a setup!’” He then added, “I’d happily take a lie detector test live on air to prove it.”

Fox also denied any claims of pre-arrangement. “Sometimes fairy tales do happen,” he said. “It might seem unbelievable, but it’s true.”

This isn’t the first time BGT has come under fire for alleged manipulation. Previous seasons have faced criticism over contestants with professional experience or supposed inside connections — but Cowell continues to defend the show’s integrity.

Britain’s Got Talent airs on ITV1 and ITVX, delivering jaw-dropping moments, emotional stories, and, evidently, its fair share of drama.
