Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu reviews his MCU debut movie with a cheeky jab at a certain Marvel character. Phase 4 introduced several heroes as potential new members of the Avengers, including She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Shang-Chi. Of these, only Shang-Chi has been formally invited by the Avengers, as seen in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' mid-credits scene. While Shang-Chi hasn't returned in three years, he's seemingly set to be a major MCU figure soon.
On X, Shang-Chi actor Simu Liu celebrates Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' third anniversary with his own review of the MCU movie. Liu gives Shang-Chi's first solo movie an 8.5/10 and points out that "lead actor is a little too full of himself". Liu, of course, is only joking, as he championed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in 2021 and has repeatedly shown his love for the movie and the character. Check out Simu Liu's post below:

On Metacritic, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings holds a 71 Metascore and a 7.0 User Score, earning the film a "Generally Favorable" rating on both counts. Although Shang-Chi's Metacritic ratings seem much lower than Rotten Tomatoes, Simu Liu's MCU debut movie holds a high spot in Metacritic's Marvel movie rankings. As of 2024, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings stands one spot higher than Spider-Man: No Way Home and three spots lower than Sam Raimi's Spider-Man. Only taking into account MCU movies, Shang-Chi joins Metacritics' Top 10 MCU movies at #9.
Other sites rate Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings similarly, with a 7.5/10 on IMDb and a 3.4/5 average on Letterboxd. Shang-Chi's MCU debut movie may not be the unanimously considered the best MCU film, but it was certainly received well by critics and audiences, and it was one of the strongest Phase 4 releases. Although Shang-Chi 2 hasn't been officially confirmed yet, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' positive reception almost guarantees a sequel, if not in Phase 6, then probably early in Phase 7.
