Sister Wives star Meri Brown had her fair share of ups and downs over the years, and she has never been one to shy away from her emotions. Meri made her television debut when the show premiered in 2010. Meri married Kody Brown in 1990, and they had one child together. Meri wanted more children, but she and Kody struggled to conceive. While Meri was facing her fertility issues, Kody took on two more wives in quick succession: Janelle Brown in 1993 and Christine Brown in 1994. While Meri gave Kody one child, Janelle, and Christine had six children each.
In 2010, during the first season of Sister Wives, Kody married his fourth wife, Robyn Brown, and added her three children from a previous marriage to the clan. After Kody and Robyn had two children of their own, the total count of Brown children swelled to 18. With less and less of Kody to go around, it was Meri who always seemed to get the shortest end of the stick. If Robyn was his favorite, Meri was Kody's least favorite wife. Meri has been through a lot, and she's had many emotional moments.
Meri Brown Cried Because "No One's Fighting For Our Family"
Kody Gave Up On Her
Meri wasn't the first of Kody's wives to walk away from the Brown family. Kody's third wife, Christine, was the wife who struggled most with jealousy after Robyn joined the family. She was tired of being in a dysfunctional marriage while watching Kody and Robyn enjoy a more functional union. In November 2021, Christine announced she was leaving Kody. Her decision landed like a nuclear bomb that blew the family's already tenuous union to bits.
In October 2022, Entertainment Tonight posted a YouTube clip from Sister Wives season 17. In the clip, Meri and Robyn discuss Christine's shocking decision to leave. Robyn feels like Christine gave up on the marriage. Meri cried as she compared it to the way Kody gave up on his marriage to her. Before she could expand further, Robyn made the conversation about herself, crying that her dreams of living in a polygamous utopia had been destroyed.
Meri believed in plural marriage and wanted to make her relationship with Kody work.
She even held on after Kody spoke openly about not being attracted to her anymore. He told her, to her face, that he couldn't see himself in a real marriage with her. Though Meri held on longer than she should have, once Christine opened Pandora's divorce box, all bets were off, and Janelle followed Christine in December 2022. It was only one month later when Meri and Kody announced their official separation.
Meri Sobbed About Being Catfished
She Was In A Vulnerable Place
Though Christine was the first to leave Kody, Meri was the first to leave Kody emotionally. During Sister Wives season 9, Meri told Kody and her Sister Wives she had been catfished. She entered into an online romantic relationship with a man who turned out to be a woman. During a clip from a Sister Wives season 9 episode posted to the TLC YouTube account, Meri cries as she explains how she fell for the scam because she was lonely. She started talking to people on social media to make friends, and one of them tricked her.
Obviously, Meri ended the relationship, but the pain of the incident lingered for many years after.
Meri did cheat on Kody, even if it was always just an emotional relationship that never became physical. That being said, it would have never happened if Kody hadn't neglected Meri leading up to her minor indiscretion. Meri stayed with Kody for many years after the catfish affair, but their marriage never recovered, and neither did her relationships with her Sister Wives.
Ironically, since leaving Kody, the Sister Wives season 18 star has been less lonely than when she was still in a relationship with him. She has leaned on her friends, especially her best friend, Jenn Sullivan. Since the pandemic, Meri and Jenn have been filming Fridays With Friends for social media. In May, Meri posted a Friday With Friends segment to her Instagram, where they spoke about Meri's new business venture, Worthy Up. In the clip, Meri looks thinner and happier than ever.
" Is it just my imagination, or does Meri cry all the time? "
Fans Call Meri "Manipulative" For Crying
"Emotional Vampire"
Not everyone appreciates the fact that Meri's so in touch with her emotions. In a [deleted] Reddit thread titled "Meri crying all the time," fans took to the comment section to complain about Meri's emotional displays. The original poster was binging the show and wondered, "Is it just my imagination, or does Meri cry all the time?" The poster went on to say, "Every time she wants something but doesn't get it, it's time for some tears. It seems very manipulative." The responses universally agree with the original poster, while several accused Kody of being an "emotional vampire."
Some Sister Wives fans took the opportunity to point out that Robyn cries way more than Meri.
Meri Was Devastated By Garrison's Tragic Death
He Was Like A Son To Her
After leaving Kody, Meri has done less crying and has focused on her health and well-being. After embarking on her weight-loss journey, the Sister Wives star started living a more active lifestyle. Her world was shaken to its core by news of the tragic death of Garrison Brown on March 5. 25-year-old Garrison was Kody's son with his second wife, Janelle.
Meri had known Garrison his whole life, and he was like a son to her.
Garrison's tragic death devastated the Brown family, including Meri, who has looked even thinner since he passed away. This has led to speculations that Meri has been eating less as she mourns following the loss. Meri is a sensitive person who feels deeply, but hopefully, she'll be able to manage her emotions during these difficult times.
