In March 2024, the Sister Wives universe was shocked by the tragic death of Garrison Brown, and Robyn Brown is being criticized for not bringing any of her children to his memorial service. Garrison is Kody Brown's son with his second wife, Janelle Brown, and Robyn is Kody's fourth wife. The series premiered in 2010, and the first season revolved around Robyn joining the family. She had three children from her first marriage, then she and Kody had two of their own. After 16 years, Kody married a new wife, so the family dynamic was shifted.
The 2020 arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic divided the Browns even further, exposing the existing cracks within the family. Things got so bad that Kody and Robyn stopped speaking to several of Kody's older children. Tensions boiled over two years and finally, three of Kody's wives divorced him. Though there was a chance that Garrison's untimely death would have brought the family together in mutual sorrow, the Sister Wives season 18 stars are as divided as ever.
Signs That Robyn's Kids Weren't At The Memorial
They Aren't In Any Of The Photographs
Several weeks after news broke of Garrison's death, Janelle posted a carousel of Instagram photos from Garrison's military memorial service. Several of the images are of the mourners seated in a large auditorium. Many of the Browns are recognizable in the photos, including all of Kody's ex-wives. Though Garrison's siblings are visible, all of Robyn's five children are absent. If they were there, it seems unlikely that all five would have avoided being in any of the photographs.

Death is a difficult subject and, understandably, Robyn would not have wanted her two youngest children at the memorial. However, there is no good reason for her adult children to have missed the event. There was also a Brown family funeral for Garrison, which Robyn's children likely attended. Robyn often complains her children aren't treated like equal siblings by the other Browns, but perhaps that's because they don't show up for the important moments.
Robyn & Garrison Weren't Close
Socially Distanced
By the time the pandemic hit, some of Kody's older children already felt resentful of Kody for favoring Robyn and her children. The pandemic exploited their problems. Kody and Robyn were terrified of COVID-19 and enacted strict virus mitigation rules. When Kody didn't think his older kids were taking the virus seriously enough, he stopped seeing them. He even demanded that Janelle kick her older sons out of the house.
Whether or not Robyn was entirely to blame for Kody's decision, the Sister Wives star certainly went along with it.
After struggling with his mental health, the National Guardsman was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his Flagstaff, Arizona home on March 5, 2024. Kody and Garrison were not on speaking terms at the time of Garrison's tragic, untimely death. The Sister Wives patriarch is still not speaking to one of his other sons with Janelle, Gabriel Brown.
Robyn's Kids Aren't Bonded With Their Siblings
They Didn't Grow Up With Them
When Robyn married Kody in 2010, her three children from her first marriage were all under ten years old. In 2014, Kody divorced Meri Brown, his first wife, so he could legally marry Robyn and adopt her children. Dayton, Aurora, and Breanna eventually changed their last names from Jesop to Brown. Though they were embraced by their new family, Robyn's kids didn't have the same experience in the Brown family as their other siblings.
When the Browns made their television debut, Kody, his wives, and all his children lived under one roof.
Each wife raised her children in a wing of the large multifamily home, and Kody went back and forth between each wife. This meant the Brown children grew up together, and Robyn's children never experienced that closeness. Soon after they came around, the Browns left Utah and moved into multiple homes. Kody, his four wives, and 18 children would never live under the same roof again.
Will Robyn And Kody Continue To Pursue Polygamy?
Signs They'll Stay Monogamous
The inaugural season of Sister Wives centered around Kody and Robyn's wedding. While planning the big event, Robyn went wedding dress shopping with her three future Sister Wives. It was a sweet moment. The women had a lovely afternoon together and bonded over their love for Kody and their religious commitment to a plural family. Meri, Christine, and Janelle were so moved that Robyn wanted them involved in her special day. However, Kody ruined the bonding moment when he revealed he had returned to the bridal shop with Robyn and selected her dress himself.
The wedding dress incident perfectly encapsulated how Robyn pushed Kody's other wives away over the years.
Robyn may have thought she wanted Kody all to herself, but now that Robyn's in a monogamous relationship with Kody, it may not be all she thought it was cracked up to be. Kody is emotional and moody, always needing an enormous amount of attention. With Meri, Janelle, and Christine long gone, the pressure is all on Robyn. She may soon realize how much she misses the support system she used to rely on before the other wives left. Regardless of what Robyn may want, Kody does not intend to replace his exes with new Sister Wives.
