The week's hit and misses in all five soaps.
Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of March 3-7 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful,, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.
10. MISS: Taylor’s advice to her daughter (B&B). Taylor (Rebecca Budig) says she isn’t, but to us, it sounds like she blames Finn (Tanner Novlan) for something that was out of his control. His mom is Sheila (Kimberlin Brown), and his daughter is Luna (Lisa Yamada). It’s understandable why Taylor would be fearful. But it’s not time for Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) to leave Finn. Not yet, anyway.
9. HIT: Nate, Audra, Devon, Lily, Holden, and Damian conversations (Y&R). Give us any incarnation of these six people interacting. The Devon (Bryton James) and Damian conversation and Nate and Damian’s lunch were super satisfying. The only conversation we didn’t enjoy was when Nate admonished Lily for having Damian investigated. He was beyond harsh.
8. MISS: Joy’s pregnancy and working at Titan (DAYS). Stephanie (Abigail Klein) and Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) are back together for two seconds, and then Joy’s potential pregnancy happens. Now, Alex and Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins) will work together at Titan. Why? What’s the purpose of extending this triangle?
7. HIT: Isaiah and Jordan connect (GH). First, it’s great how Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) gets to see Jordan (Tanisha Harper) differently than anybody else. The outside world sees an always put-together woman. The good doctor gets to see her in a more casual, less put-together way. On Friday, he saw her with a literal mask on. He made her dinner, and then afterward, they kissed. It was about time. And it was hot!
6. MISS: Martin controlling Smitty’s decisions (BTG). Wow, did not think that Martin (Brandon Claybon) would be as controlling as he is. He may even reach Bill Hamilton (Timon Durrett) levels of control. Meanwhile, Smitty (Mike Manning) better do something for himself. Go get that investigative reporting job you want!
5. HIT: Finn tells Steffy the truth about Luna’s house arrest (B&B). Finn often tells Steffy everything, or he tries to anyway. Still, we were shocked when he actually told Steffy that Luna was under house arrest at Bill’s (Don Diamont) mansion. We thought he would hold on to that secret for quite a while. And that the secret coming out would be what split up Steffy and Finn.
4. MISS: Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) actually said that everything she has done has been done in self-defense (Y&R). Phyllis’s logic doesn’t always compute. This is one of those times.
3. HIT Rafe suddenly gets his long-term memory back (DAYS). We thought we were going to have weeks and weeks of everybody thinking that amnesiac Rafe (Galen Gering) was actually Arnold (also Galen Gering). Nope. He remembered the day he hired Jada (Elia Cantu) and when he proposed to her. Then, after Jada ran his prints, she confirmed that he really was Rafe, and the two enjoyed a great reunion.
2. MISS: Lulu goes after Brooklyn and judges her greatly (GH). Lulu (Alexa Havins) had no place to judge. Even Carly (Laura Wright) didn’t judge Brook Lynn and actually gave Lulu good advice. But did she listen? Instead, she confronted Brook Lynn and shared information that the Quartermaine didn’t even know. Lulu judged her harshly and had no empathy whatsoever. While Dante has every right to be upset, Lulu needs to mind her own business.
1. HIT: The Dupree family bonding into Dani’s arrest (BTG). On Friday, Dani (Karla Mosley) had an epiphany that her marriage was well and truly over. She announced it to her family, and they empathized with her and cheered on her decisions and feelings. They even had a lot of fun, and it was nice to see this family bond and revel in joy instead of the pain and the drama of the past two weeks. Of course, this joyful moment didn’t last long. Jacob (Jibre Hordges) arrested Dani for attempted murder.HIT: Daphne actually falls for Carter. We thought it would take longer to get to this place, and just like we said last week, we wish Carter hadn’t actually kissed Daphne. But this development is acceptable. Will Daphne really take her leave and go back to Paris? What would be great is if she stopped playing for the Forresters. Make it harder for them to get their company back.
MISS: Why is Bill suddenly not around his own house? Bill has been glued to his mansion, and suddenly, to give Luna time to interact with Remy (Christian Weissmann) and Finn, he’s nowhere. Very weird. He didn’t come back into the action until the end of the week.HIT: Eva doesn’t know how far her mom went to get her that temporary job. It was great how Eva (Ambyr Michelle) knew her mom enough to address the elephant in the room. She wanted to know if Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) ran Laura (Destiny Love) off the road, which enabled Eva to get the job with Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix). After all, it’s going to take Laura weeks to recover.
HIT: The Dani and Bill flashback is necessary but heartbreaking. That Monday flashback gave us so much information about what Bill and Dani were like when they were married. It also let us in on why Dani is who she is today. The flashback was appropriately timed and very necessary.
MISS: Hayley wears her wedding dress to the press conference. We get that Hayley didn’t want to stay home alone. She should have taken a few minutes to change out of the wedding dress before heading back to the lion’s den, which was the Duprees Press Conference at the Fairmont Crest Country Club.
HIT: Xander (Paul Telfer) and Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) in lockstep. Loved the half-brothers communicating with each other and then, later in the week, combining their superpowers to come close to flipping Wei Shin’s (Clyde Kusatsu) vote at DiMera. See what they can do when they work together?
HIT: The Let’s Impress Amy Choi Lunch. Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Chanel (Raven Boatman) had to prove to Sophia’s mom, Amy Choi (Shi Ne Nielsen), that they were the perfect candidates to adopt Sophia (Rachel BoydI) and Tate’s (Leo Howard) baby. But what we got was Chanel and Johnny emphasizing their spiritual values, and then Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) and Jada crashing the chaotic lunch, accusing EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) of kidnapping Rafe. It was awesome.
MISS: Marlena tells Cat about John first. While it’s great that Cat (Anna Lynne McCord) is working for Marlena (Deidre Hall) and getting closer to Chad (Billy Flynn), it was weird for Marlena to tell Cat that John (the late Drake Hogestyn) was missing first. She’s the assistant, so she’s right there, but I wish she could have told Brady (Eric Martsolf) or Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) first.
GH
HIT and MISS: At the Miami medical symposium, Lucas (Van Hansis) and Brad (Parry Shen) had some downtime. They were so close to getting together and then Brad stopped and told him about how he blackmailed Portia (Brook Kerr) into letting him attend the conference. That was the Hit. The Miss happened when Lucas told Brad they weren’t happening anytime soon.
MISS: Why would Sonny have an issue living in a house Valentin lived in before? Yes, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) has done illegal and shady things, but why should that matter to Sonny (Maurice Benard), who has also done illegal and shady things?
Y&R
HIT: Claire wants to know if Victor is playing puppetmaster with Kyle and her. It’s nice that Claire (Hayley Erin) doesn’t hold back and that she’ll continue to stand up to her grandfather. She probably won’t win, and she and Kyle (Michael Mealor) will break up, but at least she tried to get through to Victor.
MISS: Jack and Diane and Billy and Sally’s (Courtney Hope) dinner party. It was a lot of Billy (Jason Thompson) and Jack (Peter Bergman) talking about Abbott Communications and Jack and Diane (Susan Walters) talking about the Abbott home refresh. It wasn’t our cup of tea as much as we like the characters.
