Spider-Gwen and Peggy Carter Team Up in New Marvel Preview

Marvel has released a new preview of an upcoming comic showing Spider-Gwen and Captain Peggy Carter teaming up. The series will be a timeline-spanning mystery focused on the Time Variance Authority.

The new TVA series is written by Katharyn Blair (Loki Season 2) and artist Pere Perez (Carnage, Spider-Woman). Throughout the series, the Time Variance Authority expands its tolerance of 'variants' and enlists new recruits from across multiple timelines that have been wiped from existence. The heroes joining the ranks include Peggy Carter, the X-Men's Gambit and Spider-Gwen. The debut issue of the new comic series, TVA #1, will hit comic book shops on Dec. 18.

In newly released preview images from the interior of TVA #1, Ghost-Spider is briefed by other iconic members of the TVA including B-15, O.B. and Mobius, all of whom appear in the Disney+ Loki series. Another page shows Gambit being held in a TVA cell before being recruited to join the team as well. The new TVA team then sets out on their mission, which takes them to an amusement park where Nazi zombies and an undead Rogue are waiting for them.

After Spider-Gwen, Peggy Carter and Gambit's adventures begin in December, TVA #2 will continue the story in January with the team heading straight to Hell and facing the Son of Satan. A mysterious stranger who has been following Gwen and Gambit will also make an appearance, and this person may have answers about certain dreams which have been haunting the TVA.

New TVA Series Blends Marvel's Comics and Cinematic Universe

Marvel's Time Variance Authority comic book series was announced earlier this year at San Diego Comic-Con, with Marvel teasing that the five-issue limited series will blend the Marvel Cinematic Universe's TVA with its comics' counterpart. The Time Variance Authority has previously been featured in the Loki series as well as Deadpool & Wolverine. The series also marks the comics debut of many MCU-only characters, including the Loki star Miss Minutes, the artificial intelligence who aids the TVA and works as the organization's animated mascot.

Although the Time Variance Authority has come to prominence through the Marvel Cinematic Universe's depiction of it in recent years, the TVA first made its appearance in October 1986's Thor #372. In the MCU, the TVA is located outside of time and space and was created by He Who Remains to preserve the "Sacred Timeline". Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige spoke about the MCU and comics crossover occurring in TVA, saying: "I love this idea. It’s just as cool for us to see our work in comics as it is to bring the work of comic book creators to the big screen."

The first issue of Marvel's new TVA comics will be available on Dec. 18.
