Steve Irwin’s daughter, Bindi Irwin, shared an update on her health after she was rushed to the hospital and had to undergo surgery.
“Hey, guys. Bindi here. I just want to say thank you so much for your incredible well-wishes,” she said from her hospital bed in an Instagram video Monday.
“I just got out of surgery about an hour ago. I had my appendix removed. I also had 14 new endometriosis lesions that had to be removed, and they kindly stitched up my hernia,” Bindi revealed.
The “Crikey! It’s The Irwins” alum, 26, said she was “forever grateful” for the team of medical professionals at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City who cared for her.
“Sorry if I’m a little out of it in this video, but I just wanted you to know that I’m on the road to recovery, one step at a time. I am so lucky to have so much love in my life from my beautiful family,” she concluded.
In the comments section of her post, Bindi was showered with love and support from her relatives.
“Stay strong Bindi! Love you!” her brother, Robert Irwin, wrote.
“Strongest person I kno,” Bindi’s husband, Chandler Powell, added.
The “Bindi the Jungle Girl” alum’s mom, Terri Irwin, commented, “Stay strong, sweet Bindi. I love you with all my heart, and I believe every day will be better..”
News broke Saturday that Bindi was forced to miss her late dad’s annual gala this year because her appendix had ruptured.
“She’s going to be OK, but surgery — out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them,” Robert, 21, told People.
“She’s just come out the other side of endometriosis and now the appendix goes. Health is so important — it really is,” he added.
“Bindi has become an incredible advocate for women’s health, particularly, and I think it’s really important to prioritize getting help.”
The underwear model also revealed that Terri, 60, would miss the gala to help his sister during her recovery.
In March 2023, Bindi revealed that she had to undergo surgery after being diagnosed with endometriosis.
She revealed doctors had found 37 lesions, some of which were “very deep and difficult to remove,” along with a chocolate cyst, which are filled with old blood.
Bindi explained that a doctor at one point told her that her issues were simply something she would “deal with” as a woman.
The following year, the “Bindi’s Bootcamp” alum told Page Six exclusively that she had publicly shared her “scary” diagnosis to shine a light on an often misdiagnosed illness that affects approximately one in 10 women worldwide.
Bindi shares daughter Grace, 4, with Powell, 28, whom she married in 2020.
