Amy Dowden has been teasing fans with her first Strictly Come Dancing update since heading into rehearsals for the 2025 series.

The professional dancer will be back in the ballroom this autumn, after her own journey in the BBC One dance contest ended in heartbreak last year.

As fans of the hit dance show know, Amy missed the 2023 series of Strictly as she underwent treatment for breast cancer. She fought back to return last year, where she was partnered with JLS star JB Gill.

The pair were making strides in the competition, but Amy suffered an injury, unrelated to her other health difficulties, to her foot and had to withdraw from the competition.

She was replaced by fellow pro dancer Lauren Oakley, and she and JB made it all the way to the final, with them including Amy and celebrating her work with the singer and presenter along the way.

It was then back in April that Amy's return to the ballroom was confirmed. Before rehearsals for the pro dancers got underway on Monday (July 28), with two new dancers joining the line-up, Amy reflected on her recent break with twin sister, Becky, to reset before he big ballroom comeback.

Alongside a string of pictures from the sun-soaked trip to Ibiza, the Welsh star wrote: "Some much-needed twin time. We had the perfect little escape – full of sunshine, sangria, beach days, rooftop swims, incredible food, and most importantly, proper quality time together

"After my cancer diagnosis, I promised my family (and myself) that I’d take more downtime. I used to live life at 100mph, saying yes to everything and everyone. But cancer shifts your perspective.

"This year I’ve been incredibly lucky with new job opportunities which have been full on but so rewarding and I can’t wait to share all to you very soon. So having time to slow down isn’t just okay – it’s essential.

"These past few days have been the perfect reset and I’m heading into the new season feeling recharged, happy, stronger, and HEALTHIER than ever."

She went on to share on Sunday (July 27): "Also bursting with pride for my sister @becky_dowden – she was accepted into her master’s program in midwifery while we were away (yes, while still working full-time in the NHS!). I’m so proud of her and loved treating her to a well-deserved break.

"Lots of you have asked – we stayed at @trsibizahotel and absolutely loved it. Huge thanks for the cheeky upgrade – the food, the views, the vibes… all 10/10. We’ll be back. Feeling grateful, grounded, and SO excited for @bbcstrictly rehearsals to start tomorrow. Year 9 – let’s go!"

Now, Amy has returned to Instagram with an update from her first day back with her Strictly pals. Talking directly to the camera in a video posted to her Story, the 34-year-old said: "Literally just got in from day one of Strictly 2025 and I'm just smiling!
