Strictly's Dianne Buswell forced to address engagement speculation with Joe Sugg | HELLO!

She has recently returned from a trip to South Africa with partner Joe Sugg. They travelled to the country to attend the wedding of YouTuber Casper Lee. She then returned home to Australia, and in doing so sparked engagement rumours. Susanna Reid started the conversation by asking Dianne about the speculation around the potential she had got engaged.

Ed Balls told her "congratulations" before telling her "finally, you've been waiting so long to get on with it." However, Dianne shared the "really funny story" that led to the rumour circulating.

The 35-year-old said "I was in Australia and it was quite hot over there, and I'd just flown in and my fingers get a little bit swollen on the plane, so I had a couple of rings on my right hand. Because they were swollen I had to take them off and I put them onto my left hand."

She continued: "I didn't even know that's your engagement ring, so I put it on here and taking picture with my family. And then I put them online. And so yeah, everyone thought I was engaged."

An image uploaded by the Australian dancer clearly showed rings of her left hand, with one on the ring finger. She clarified the situation telling the hosts she is not engaged.

There have been a lot of other things happening in Dianne's personal life. Her dad, Mark, endured a difficult 18 months as he was diagnosed with cancer and underwent chemotherapy. Dianne confirmed her dad had finished his chemotherapy in April last year in an emotional post.

However, she has now revealed he has been dealt another blow as he has underwent heart surgery. She shared a snap by her dad's hospital bed this month, as she said: "And he’s up and walking around the ward like a champion after his heart surgery.

"My poor dad has had a tough 18 months but in true Buswell style has shown strength and resilience. And my beautiful mum who has been the saviour in it all she is by his side 24/7 and has been a little trooper you are one of a kind mum. Love you both and I feel so lucky I was able to be here with you both."

Dianne has been in the public eye over the last couple of months, after lifting the glitterball with Chris McCausland in December 2024, the dancer and the Scouse comedian earned their place in the history books of the show.

Throughout their journey on Strictly, Chris and Dianne captured the nation's heart and admiration. They entered the final as one of the most favoured couples in the show's history, with betting odds indicating that they were the clear favourites to win - one bookmaker had them at 1/18 odds-on favourites to triumph.

Unfortunately, their time together couldn't be prolonged to the live tour as Chris had touring commitments of his own. She instead performed as a solo dancer for the duration.
