Strictly Come Dancing's Janette Manrara 'on the mend' as she gives health update

Janette Manrara, known for being a fan-favourite on Strictly Come Dancing, has assured supporters she'll be 'back soon' after being forced to withdraw from her current stage performance following a recent double health setback.

The television presenter and professional dancer made her theatrical debut this year, stepping into the legendary role of Roxie Hart in the touring production of Chicago.

However, during her latest visit to Blackpool with the production, the BBC star, who detailed feeling like a single mum, was struck down by illness that compelled her to miss several performances.

Subsequently, she posted images from her time in the coastal resort, including one revealing the severity of her eye infection, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Accompanying the post she wrote at the time: "Blackpool last week was a mix of fun, sun, and frustration all at the same time. When I didn't have conjunctivitis, the rest of it was really lovely!

"Saw my girlfriends, learned a few bits about @lindajohnpierre, enjoyed the views of the tower and seaside, and had a great few shows. The last photo... the bit of the week that was not so fun! Haha! But all much better now. See you soon Blackpool!"

She subsequently managed to return to the stage but then found herself absent from the production once more over the weekend.

Taking to Instagram, the former Strictly Come Dancing professional confirmed she'd been required to undergo emergency dental treatment and posted photographs showing one of her cheeks swollen to twice its usual size. It was then on Saturday (August 2), that Janette provided her update.

Posting a photograph she'd taken of her mother and her daughter, Lyra Rose, seated together on a bench in the countryside, she commented: "Nothing like some food for the soul. Grandma and Lyra Rose.
