Strictly Come Dancing's Katya Jones says she had 'no idea' in two year 'job' update

Kaya Jones has shared a moving update, two years after taking on a new job away from her gig on Strictly Come Dancing.

The professional dancer has been a fan favourite on the BBC One dance show since 2016, winning the show in her second series with Holby City’s Joe McFadden.

Viewers last saw Katya partnered with Wynne Evans, who stepped back from the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour earlier in the year after making an 'inappropriate' remark during the tour's launch, where they made it through to the annual Blackpool special.

But away from the Strictly ballroom, which she will return to for the 2025 series this autumn, Katya is keeping busy with her other roles and responsibilities.

One of those she took on after appearing in a special Strictly edition of the popular BBC show, DIY SOS. Sharing a new post on Instagram, Katya explained: "Two years ago, I said yes to a job… but I left with a chosen family.

"When DIY SOS invited me to help out on a project in July 2023, I had no idea where it would lead. But once I met Ali and the incredible team, I found something special- a beautiful family where everyone is welcomed, seen, heard, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

"Being chosen as their patron was a huge privilege. Last night’s annual summer concert was nothing short of spectacular. Every single performer shone like a superstar! @alisar_jane1 is a magical well of unlimited energy, inspiration, and LOVE. The impact that @truecolourstheatre has on people’s lives is undeniable."

She rounded off by adding: "My heart is full and grateful for people like that. Those that enrich our world and make it a better place."

And fans were quick to respond. @froggychops said: "What a wonderful organisation and such a worthy patron." @debbie.loftus commented: "This is wonderful." @rhiannon_dv added: "This is absolutely beautiful, they are all amazing!!!"

Katya will be back on Strictly later this year for her 10th series as a pro dancer. Alongside Katya, returning for series 23 are Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk and Jowita Przystal.

Completing the line-up will be Johannes Radebe, Aljaž Škorjanec, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola.
