Strictly Come Dancing star distracts fans with transformation looking '10 years younger'

Bill Bailey, who made Strictly Come Dancing history in 2020 with Oti Mabuse, appeared on BBC Breakfast and his new look caught the attention of viewers watching at home

Strictly Come Dancing winner Bill Bailey has left BBC Breakfast viewers distracted with his new look.

The 60-year-old musician, actor and comedian appeared on the famous red sofa on Thursday (June 26) to chat to hosts Naga Munchetty and Ben Thompson about his upcoming tour.

However, conversation quickly turned to his appearance as Bill as he sported a short hairdo instead of his trademark long locks.

Presenter Naga asked: "Are you ever going to grow your hair again?". Bill answered: "I quite like the short hair."

Naga reassured the guest, saying: "It looks lovely" as Bill added: "Especially now in the hot weather. It's great."

Bill's hair transformation also caught the attention of viewers watching at home, with some saying it makes him much younger.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: "#bbcbreakfast He looks ten years younger."

Another added: "He looks better with that straggly hair cut off #bbcbreakfast." A third person pointed out: "Bill has cut his hair off #bbcbreakfast."

Bill revealed last year that he got rid of his longer hair after he nearly lost it during a barbecue incident.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Bill explained: "I was on a hiking holiday in the summer and at one point I was leaning over a barbecue and my hair caught on fire. I think the universe was telling me it was time."

The TV star also claimed that he has been mistaken for a younger version of himself. He added: "The other day someone came up to me and said 'You look just like Bill Bailey, but younger'. It’s great."

Bill became the older person to win Strictly Come Dancing in 2020

Bill won Strictly Come Dancing with professional partner Oti Mabuse in 2020.

This victory marked a historic moment as Bill became the oldest celebrity to win the show and Oti became the first professional dancer to win the competition in two consecutive years. Oti had previously won in 2019 with former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher.
