Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has reflected on her cancer battle in a candid social media post as she enjoyed a sun-soaked holiday with her husband Ben Jones
Amy Dowden expressed her thankfulness as she reflected on the changes she's made since being diagnosed with cancer. The Strictly Come Dancing professional underwent breast cancer treatment and publicly disclosed her diagnosis after receiving the news in May 2023.
Amy recounted how she discovered a lump in April that year, just the day before her honeymoon with fellow dancer Ben Jones. This led to her having a single mastectomy followed by chemotherapy.
In February 2024, Amy joyfully announced there was "no evidence of disease" following tests and subsequently made a triumphant return to the much-loved dance programme for its 20th-anniversary series last year.
The professional ballroom dancer has since taken time to appreciate her opportunities during a holiday with her husband Ben and friends.
While soaking up the sunshine on a sunbed in her bikini, Amy took to Instagram with photos and a message stating, "What a day! Forever grateful!
"Two years ago I was doing everything I could to be alive with chemo ahead! Now I'm living every day to the fullest! Forever grateful."
The excitement continued for Amy, who then shared with her followers some "super exciting news".
The 34-year-old posted another picture to her Instagram story, barely containing her elation over the significant update.
Amy excitedly penned next to her photo: "l've just found out some super exciting news that I can't share yet but can't wait to".
She then added: "Honestly can't believe it. FaceTimed mom and dad and their reactions were just so cute."

A post to her Instagram yesterday (June 25) saw Amy share a snap in the sun. It was captioned: "Walking on sunshine." Her caption was followed by a blue heart, a sun emoji, a red heart, and a pink bow.
Fans were thrilled to see the post and praised Amy. One fan joked: "Bring that sky back to Wales please." Another shared: "So gorg!!! Hope you're having the BEST time."
Another fan shared they had been holidaying in the same area just last week and that they had a brilliant time.
They wrote: "I was there last week. Fabulous place. Have a great time."
Earlier this month, Amy revealed it's been a year since she celebrated getting an MBE.
A post to Instagram from Amy reads: "A year ago it was announced on the Kings birthday honours list I would be receiving an MBE for my fund raising and raising awareness for inflammatory bowel disease!
"Such an honour and one that still feels surreal! Congratulations to all those announced this weekend on this year honours list.
"I will forever do all I can to keep raising awareness and fundraising for both inflammatory bowel disease and breast cancer."
