Strictly's Dianne Buswell says 'I can't wait' as she lands role away from BBC series

Strictly Come Dancing professional Dianne Buswell was seen raising the Glitterball Trophy last year after winning the series with Chris McCausland.

Strictly Come Dancing fans are set to see professional dancer Dianne Buswell in a brand new light.

At the end of last year, viewers saw the BBC star clinch the Glitterball Trophy with her celebrity partner, comedian Chris McCausland.

Although Dianne has been part of the long-running show since 2017, 2024 was her first win, with Chris making history as the first ever blind contestant.

However, it's been announced the Australian dancer is embarking on a new venture away from the BBC show as she's joining a brand-new digital series.

Bluey Dancealongs will see the beloved Strictly pro stepping into the world of the popular children's character, Bluey.

Dianne will choreograph and star in a series of five dance videos with each one featuring a beloved Bluey song and will take place in a different location within Bluey's World.

Speaking about her new role, Dianne had nothing but excitement as she commented: "How cool that I got to go to Bluey's World in Australia to dance in Bluey's house with some incredibly talented kids dancing to some of Bluey's favourite tunes.

"I love the message that Bluey sends out, to not just kids but grownups too. I can't wait to see everybody trying the dance moves at home and joining in the party."

While creating joyful and energetic routines, Dianne will be joined by young fans of the show to inspire and engage everyone.

From May 15, Bluey fans will be able to watch the first episode, with the other episodes going live weekly with each video lasting between one to three minutes.

This is Dianne's second collaboration with the TV sensation after a world-exclusive moment during Children in Need in 2024, when Bluey was transported directly on the Strictly Ballroom.

Earlier this month, Dianne took home a BAFTA for most memorable moment of the year for her routine with Chris on Strictly.

Their Waltz to You'll Never Walk Alone saw a poignant moment when the comedian placed his hands over Dianne's eyes while the room faded to black.

Emotional over the win, Dianne, who accepted the award on behalf of both of them, said: "In one minute and 30 seconds of a dance, I feel like this told such a story. A story of hope, determination, resilience, and vulnerability.

"This moment meant so much to the both of us, so I'm just so thrilled that we have this."

In a humorous moment, Dianne added: "Chris did have something he wanted me to say, and that is 'after 22 years in comedy, he wins a BAFTA for dancing'."

Bluey Dancealongs lands at 12pm on the Official Bluey YouTube and Bluey social channels.
