Strictly Come Dancing professional Katya Jones as hinted that she could be leaving the long-running BBC show after eight years competing on the programme.
Strictly Come Dancing’s professional dancer Katya Jones has hinted that she may be quitting the BBC show in the coming months. The 35-year-old ballroom expert has been at the centre of two major ballroom scandals since she joined the dance competition back in 2016.
Speaking about her plans for 2025 on Instagram in an impromptu Q&A, Katya wrote online: “Actually 2025 is actually looking very exciting! Quite a few projects and jobs that I’ve been working on for a while. Strictly is what has allowed me to have this platform, and I will continue doing it as long as I have the same passion for it.
“But we are growing and evolving – and not getting any younger. So it is important to keep looking ahead and create a future for myself doing things I love.” Hinting that she would like to end up on the judging panel one day, Katya went on: “We might get to see soon what kind of judge I could be.
“I have the knowledge and the credentials to be technically demanding but I have been on the other side so long that I understand the importance of being compassionate and understanding.”
The award-winning dancer came under fire back in 2018 when she was pictured kissing her celebrity dance partner Seann Walsh while they were both in relationships with other people.
Then earlier this year, her 2024 partner opera singer Wynne Evans was axed from the Strictly Live tour after he made an inappropriate joke about pro dancer and tour host Janette Manrara, 41, during a full cast photocall. Katya won the 15th series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 alongside Joe McFadden.
