“We’re real fortunate to have him.”

These were the words of Todd McLellan after a stellar game from the young centerman, Marco Kasper.
The hero of the game? Why, Kasper, of course.
He scored the game-tying and game-winning goals for the Red Wings. Kasper’s role and performance increase with each passing game.
His coach is certainly taking notice.
“It’s certainly becoming expected of him,” McLellan said about the high expectations for Kasper, “because he’s such a tremendous player. We’ve talked ad nauseum about the impact he’s had on this team, his teammates.”
The 21-year-old has 34 points in 74 games this season, averaging 15:22 per game. However, Kasper's two-way ability should not be overlooked.
McLellan expanded on how Kasper is developing off the ice and his on-ice play.
“I see a lot of leadership skills evolving,” McLellan revealed. “He was one that I pulled aside this morning. I didn’t think it was his best effort in Florida, and he certainly agreed.”
“Anytime a young player like that is challenged and comes back with a game like this today, that’s a real good sign.”
Kasper finished the game with the second-highest time on ice of all the Red Wings forwards (19:52). He centered his own line, with Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat as his wingmen.
That’s very esteemed company to be in.
