Flyers News

Despite being in a self-proclaimed rebuild, the Philadelphia Flyers still have many of the core players they have had over the last several seasons.

Many of those players are heading into contract years, and some just have not been able to prove that they are valuable pieces that can help the rebuilding process along.

Speaking of the Flyers and rebuilds, how does the job general manager Danny Briere has done stack up to rivals, like Kyle Dubas of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Brian MacLellan of the Washington Capitals?

While the Penguins and Capitals have done a lot of retooling and buying and selling players, the Flyers haven’t done much of either.

So far, the Flyers’ rebuild has consisted of offloading bad apples in the locker room and drafting at the slots they have earned.

NHL News

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson, the younger brother of Dallas Stars superstar Jason Robertson, is apparently looking for a trade out of Toronto after five years in the organization and never getting a true chance to show his stuff at the NHL level.

Robertson, 22, scored 14 goals, 13 assists, and 27 points in 56 games for the Maple Leafs last season, but the restricted free agent is reportedly committed to playing NHL hockey for another franchise in the 2024-25 season.

After acquiring younger players like Rutger McGroarty and Cody Glass, Dubas, formerly the general manager of the Maple Leafs, could swoop back in for one of his old draft picks as his aging Penguins seek to get younger, better, and faster at the end of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin’s careers.

And, now that Robertson’s feelings are becoming highly publicized, the Maple Leafs might not have all that much trade leverage around the NHL when it comes down to it.
