Season 14 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has recently wrapped, but discussions surrounding the show continue. Notably, Garcelle Beauvais announced her exit from the series weeks ago, and many wonder how her estranged friend Sutton Stracke will function with the rest of the ladies. Now, Sutton is revealing her reaction to Garcelle leaving and more in a new interview.
Regarding Garcelle’s current standing with the RHOBH cast, she has unfollowed everyone except Jennifer Tilly and Kathy Hilton. For a while, she continued to follow Sutton’s business accounts on social media, but she has since unfollowed them, sending a clear signal that she felt betrayed by the woman she once called a friend.
Recently, Sutton sat down for a quick chat with US Weekly. She first shared her reaction to the fallout from Garcelle exiting the show.
“I think we were all sort of in shock, but you know, Garcelle is a very strong woman, and so she’s going to make her decision and do what she’s going to do. I just want her to live her best life and be happy,” Sutton said.
When asked if she is hopeful for her friendship with the actress in the future, Sutton responded, “I am hopeful. I’m just hoping that Garcelle is good and happy and on the path that she wants to be on, which I know she is.”
From there, the topic of Dorit Kemsley came up. The interviewer asked how they’re doing following the reunion, where Sutton pressed her about her finances. Sutton said, “Oh, Dorit and I are going to be Dorit and Sutton. It may take us a long time to recover.”
The interviewer then noted that much was said at the reunion, to which Sutton responded, “I think on both of our parts a lot was said, and you know, I don’t think either one of us wants the other to be unhappy.”
She continued, “I don’t think either one of us wants to have such animosity between us, so it may take a year, it might take 10 years, but you know, I think eventually we will find common ground. I think we will, I just don’t know how long it’ll take.”
The interviewer then remarked that if she can “get there” with Erika Jayne, then anything is possible. Sutton responded, “I mean, that was my biggest surprise. I was like, ‘I think Erika and I may have had some fun times over the course of the season,’ which really surprised me the most of everything.”
She went on to say what she wasn’t surprised by from the season, including how “elegantly” Garcelle spoke to her mother, as well as her mother saying, “‘I love you.'”
The topic of Kyle Richards also came up, and Sutton was asked where she stands with her. She explained, “Kyle’s been really busy. I haven’t seen her since the reunion. I’ve been really busy. I think we all kind of had the great diaspora after the reunion.”
From there, Jennifer Tilly was mentioned, and whether their friendship had changed. “I think it did change a little. Jennifer didn’t realize how hard filming the show is, and so that kind of shocked her a little bit. And I think that Jennifer kind of wanted to play the middle ground, maybe knowing that, ‘Sutton, maybe you shouldn’t have said that,’ but then also, like, ‘But I love you, and you’re one of my best friends,’ and didn’t quite know how to go back and forth on that,” Sutton responded.
She went on, “But I can take it, you know, I love her. We’ve been friends for 20 years, and it’s going to be all good. Jennifer and I are neighbors, we’re like best friends, and I just love her dearly.”
When asked how she thinks filming will be without Garcelle, Sutton stated, “I think that it’s just going to be interesting going forward with everything. I think every time we start up again, it’s like, what is this going to be now? Every season always kind of enters that great unknown.”
In the end, she said she’s not throwing out any names for who should join the cast for season 15 of RHOBH.
