Tamra Judge has caused quite a stir this season on The Real Housewives of Orange County. So far, she has been accused of attacking her castmates because she doesn’t have a storyline. However, things worsened for the podcast host when she revealed she was “on the spectrum.” Now, the internet is shading her and claiming she’s faking a diagnosis as a way to shamefully account for her bad behavior.
As was recently reported, Tamra took to her Two Ts In a Pod podcast with Teddi Mellencamp and made an emotional revelation. The troubled RHOC star tearfully revealed that after a single therapy visit, she had been diagnosed with some form of autism. At the time, she even said she hadn’t told her husband.
After making the revelation, it didn’t take long for people on social media to call out Tamra. Specifically, it seems many RHOC fans believe Tamra may be faking her diagnosis as a way to provide an excuse for her behavior, which has fueled backlash. Naturally, this would be beyond offensive for people who either have autism or have loved ones who are on the spectrum, as it doesn’t typically cause the actions Tamra has displayed.
One person who jokingly called Tamra out and implied that she did it to save her job is actress Heather McDonald. She took to TikTok and called BS on the RHOC star’s comments. She said, “Everybody’s just joking, and like, and not believing Tamra. You guys, Tamra has finally been diagnosed as being on the a-hole spectrum, and I don’t know if you guys are aware, but being on the a-hole spectrum, it is protected by the American Disabilities Act, and therefore, it’s my understanding she can never be fired by Bravo.”
Heather continued, “So, she’s not going anywhere. She’s gonna be on the show forever, and this next year will be a journey of discovering what she can do to help herself and others and making sack lunches, and can’t wait for those charity events.”
She concluded, “Prayers for Tamra and for Teddi’s bad acting.”
Former RHOC star Kelly Dodd also called her out online. According to Kelly, “She’s 60 years old, and now all of a sudden she’s coming out with being on the spectrum? She’s a sociopath liar. I don’t get it. Is that her defense now for her bad behavior?”
She added, “Those ratings! People are sick of Tamra Judge. I know Bravo loves her. Bravo and Evolution, they love her, but you’re 60 years old, and all of a sudden, now you had somebody diagnose you as being on the spectrum? What a crock of bullsh**.”
Kelly then went on to claim that it’s easy to get a diagnosis even if you shouldn’t have one.
She continued, “They wanna keep their job so bad that they have to fake it to freaking make it.”
Of course, Tamra being called out wasn’t all jokes, as millions of people are on the spectrum and face real-life challenges as a result. One mother of a child with autism took to social media to express how hurtful it was that Tamra said this. She said, “This message is for Tamra Judge, Teddi Mellencamp, and the Two Ts In a Pod podcast since you turned off all your comments and stitches on your video about Tamra having autism.”
She continued, “I want you to know that I’m speaking as the mother of a child with autism, and I want you to know how your comments conflating the idea of being a bad person with autism is really invalidating a lot of people’s experiences and really understanding what it is to have autism.”
She added, “It’s true that in the autism community that girls and women are often misdiagnosed or underdiagnosed because all the studies have always been done around boys and men; however, in this instance, you can’t just go to therapy once, and be told that you have autism and then use that as an excuse to 13 or 14 years of bad behavior on television. If you knew anything about what an actual autism diagnosis looks like, there are years of waitlists.”
This mother went to discuss the number of specialists people to talk to in order to get an actual diagnosis and the challenges people with autism face in the real world.
Of course, Tamra and Teddi saw the backlash from the claims of being on the spectrum. This led to them disabling comments on the video.
