Ramirez now tells Empire magazine that he's seen some The Last of Us season 2 footage during an ADR (automatic dialogue replacement) session. While the actor doesn't reveal much of what's to come or how exactly Manny will fit into the story, he does promise that the new episodes will have a profound effect on audiences. Check out his comment below:
“I saw some clips in ADR. It's gonna f*ck people up. It's so good."
What Ramirez's Tease Means For The Last Of Us Season 2
Will Season 2 Match Season 1's Success?
Reviews for The Last of Us season 1 were glowing from critics, with praise aimed at the strong emotional storytelling, performances, and action sequences. Season 1 has an impressive 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with the audience score not far behind at 88%. Ramirez's comment would suggest that, with season 2, Mazin and Druckmann will be delivering more of what worked so well in season 1.
Speaking with EW, Mazin said of The Last of Us' future: "I think it's pretty likely that our story will extend past a season 3."
Our Take On Ramirez's The Last Of Us Season 2 Hype
How Season 1 Sets Up An Emotional Moment
Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Last of Us season 1.
The Last of Us season 1 ended with Joel lying to Ellie about what happened with the Fireflies (after he murdered them all to save her), but it was clear that she didn't totally believe him. There will surely be a reckoning for the two characters in season 2 and a confrontation where Ellie learns the truth, and this certainly will be an emotional moment that could deeply affect viewers.
Considering Ramirez saw these powerful scenes during his ADR session, he's presumably referring to scenes that Manny is a part of. His character still remains somewhat mysterious, but a promotional image did reveal him to be part of Abby's crew, so his comment speaks to just how important that storyline will be. Many questions remain about The Last of Us season 2, but Ramirez's comment certainly makes the new episodes even more intriguing.
