Here are some players on the Rangers that should be considered as untouchable.

There is no such thing as an "Untouchable" in the National Hockey League with the exception of Connor McDavid.

Period!

The Maven learned that when the once "untouchable" face of the NHL, Wayne Gretzky, jetted from the Village of Edmonton to the spotlight of Hollywood.

Even The Great One was "Touchable."

Or – Exhibit B, if you will – when Mark Messier took his act from Alberta to the much-larger stage called "The Big Apple."

So, when The Maven now presents his "Untouchable Rangers" list, please bear in mind that it's not Chris Drury's nor Peter Laviolette's, it's mine – all mine.

Try these on for size and see if you agree.

1. IGOR SHESTERKIN: Really, is any explanation necessary? (Of course not.)

2. VINCENT TROCHECK: As he has been throughout his big-league career, the club's best center is Vinnie, "The Engine," who makes this team go. (And The Vinner never stops going.)

3. ALEXIS LAFRENIERE: He's on his way toward becoming the Rangers version of Hall of Famer Jean Beliveau. (But he's not nearly there yet)

4. ADAM FOX: Unless an injury proves otherwise, the ex-Norris Trophy-winner remains THE power play quarterback and all-round most reliable defender. Hope that he's 100 percent by October.)

5. RYAN LINDGREN: He may not be re-signed yet but here's a worthy performer who possesses Foxy's "savoir faire" but nobody on the blueline gives more oomph to his position than the Minnesotan. (He'll get the new deal he deserves or Lavvy will be in REAL trouble.)

6. WILL CUYLLE: Toronto's gift to the Rangers' "Kiddie Korps" is going to get better and better. (He's The Maven's fave among the young guys.)

7. JIMMY VESEY: Put it this way, he's the best utility player – fourth-liner if you will – that any team could desire. (Had Vesey not been injured early in the playoffs the Blueshirts might have beaten Florida – and I'll leave it at that)
