Teddi Mellencamp gave fans an update on her health two weeks after undergoing emergency brain surgery.
In a post shared on Instagram, the former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star thanked her family, friends, and fans for their love and support. Mellencamp also posted an update on how her surgery went and shared a photo of herself in the hospital as well as an image of a scan of her brain.
Teddi Mellencamp Said She Is Grateful
In her post shared on February 26, Mellencamp said she is “grateful” for the medical team that helped to make her brain surgery a success. “In full transparency, more tumors were removed than expected, 4 in total,” she wrote. “This fight is not over but that round has been won.”
Mellencamp also said she has much gratitude for the “gift” of her loved ones who have been by her side and for fans who have offered her support. “As I move on to the next steps in my treatment, I just wanted to say thank you everybody for the outpouring of love and prayers,” she concluded. “I see them and they’re definitely helping me stay strong.”
Mellencamp first broke the news of her diagnosis in an Instagram post on February 12, just before she underwent surgery. After explaining that she had been suffering from “severe and debilitating headaches,” she shared that after a CT scan and MRI, doctors found multiple tumors on her brain.
“Two of the tumors will be surgically removed today,” Mellencamp revealed ahead of her surgery. “The remaining smaller tumors will be dealt with via radiation at a later date.”
Teddi Mellencamp’s Family & Friends Wanted to Let Her Share Her Story
Fans were worried about Mellencamp amid her two weeks of silence, but her family and friends were careful not to share too much about her surgery.
Her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave gave fans a brief update on February 13. “All I will say right now is surgery went well,” he wrote on his Instagram story. “That said, I’ve never seen [Teddi] in so much pain. She’s finally getting some needed rest.”
During an Amazon Livestream on February 18, Mellencamp’s close friend and RHOBH co-star Kyle Richards addressed fans who asked about her recovery. “I’ll let Teddi speak to her situation when she’s able to,” Richards said, before asking fans to keep her friend in their prayers.
And Mellencamp’s sister, Justice Mellencamp, also posted to her Instagram story to promise that her sibling would “share her journey when she [was] ready.”
Mellencamp’s brain tumor diagnosis was discovered amid her long battle with skin cancer. She was originally diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in early 2022 and has given fans regular updates on her surgeries and scan results.
