Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Teddi Mellencamp is doing her very best to stay positive as she battles cancer. The mother of three underwent brain surgery after doctors found tumors, and while the surgery was a success, more tumors have been found on her brain — and on her lung.
“You have very dark moments where you think, ‘What if I don’t make it? What does that mean for my children? What does that mean for my business?’” Mellencamp told E! News in an article published on Friday, March 7. Mellencamp shares three children, Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 5, with ex-husband Edwin Arroyave.
“You go through all those emotions. And what I learned is being able to talk with people about it and tell them what you need,” she continued.
“I remember thinking, ‘Okay, well, after this surgery, it means I’ll be done.’ And then every time I would go back, there was something more, there was something more severe, there was another,” she added.
“For somebody like me, who likes control, when things are so out of your control, and you can’t plan for it, and sometimes you just have to accept what’s happening and try to find peace in that and not control it, but know that you can control being an advocate for your health. So I would say that’s very challenging,” Mellencamp explained.
Mellencamp revealed news about her brain tumors back on February 12.
Teddi Mellencamp Said She’s Trying to Stay ‘Positive’ After Latest Scans
Just one day before her interview with E! News was published, Mellencamp shared an update on her cancer battle.
“I have multiple tumors in my brain that weren’t able to be removed via surgery. I also have 2 tumors in my lung. These are all metastases of my melanoma. The doctors are hopeful that immunotherapy and radiation will effectively treat them,” Mellencamp wrote in a candid Instagram post.
“I am feeling positive— that I will win this battle, that I got this wig (I like the short hair, just not the bald spots), and that I can remember all of Angelina’s kids’ names,” she added.
Mellencamp has been sharing her journey with skin cancer for the past several months.
