At this point, we all know that Teddi Mellencamp has been fighting multiple forms of cancer, all while navigating a messy divorce. But did you know she’s also battling a former employee in court?
We’re not sure where she finds the time for all of this, but according to court documents, the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star faces allegations of racial discrimination, verbal abuse, and a whole laundry list of employment violations. However, in true Teddi fashion, she’s not going down without a fight.
Teddi Mellencamp is accused of treating white employees better than minorities

In Touch got the details on this lawsuit against Teddi, which was filed by a former employee of hers named Julia Umana. The 71-year-old immigrant from El Salvador filed a lawsuit back in February. She said her time working with Teddi felt like a nightmare.
Julia, who began working as Teddi’s housekeeper in 2021, accused the RHOBH star of exhibiting a “blatant abuse of power.” She claimed that Teddi engaged in “race-based discrimination and harassment and subjected her to a hostile work environment.”
On top of that, she accused Teddi of failing to pay overtime wages, failing to pay minimum wages, failing to reimburse work-related expenses, failing to offer proper rest and meal breaks, plus wrongful termination. She demanded $1 million in damages to make up for her suffering.
The lawsuit explained, “As an El Salvadoran woman, Ms. Umana noted a stark contrast between the way Teddi treated her versus the way Teddi treated her white colleagues.”
In the shocking lawsuit, Julia accused Teddi of interrogating Latino employees and accusing them of stealing. Meanwhile, she allegedly monitored her employees on her in-home security cameras at all hours of the day.
In new court documents, Teddi shot down every single one of Julia’s claims. According to her, she didn’t do anything “extreme, outrageous, intentional, or reckless” to Julia. She’s asking the court to throw all of this out. She argued that Julia’s termination was non-discriminatory and non-retaliatory.
Teddi’s lawyer argued, “[Julia’s] recovery, if any, must be reduced proportionately to the extent that any damages alleged by [Julia] is caused and contributed to by [Julia’s] own action.”
A judge has yet to decide whether or not Julia’s case can proceed. Rest assured, we’ll keep you updated as things progress.
