Is there any hope for Kyle Richards’ marriage to Mauricio Umansky? Well, according to Teddi Mellencamp, absolutely. Granted, perhaps Kyle’s former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star shouldn’t be taken as the authority on anything to do with the relationship; but she is close with the estranged couple.

It would be wrong of Teddi to get some people’s hopes up. Many fans remember just how devastated they were at the news of the marital issues. Kyle and Mau seemed like the strongest couple in all the Housewives franchises. But even they succumbed to the separation curse.
Granted, the two aren’t officially divorced. Technically, they’re still just separated. Nevertheless, the writing seems to be on the wall, and it’s hard to watch. Even though Teddi didn’t necessarily seem to think so.

Teddi recently spoke with PEOPLE about her close friend Kyle. She reported that Kyle was doing great, which was “a testament to both Kyle and Mauricio on how well they get along and still communicate.” She added, “I think that shows the love that’s there throughout their family and their life and the kind of people that they are because that’s not common.”
Teddi also said, “And, you know, no one knows what the future holds.” Teddi then compared Kyle and Mauricio to other folks with strained marriages. As she put it, “When you look at the history of other people that are going through ups and downs, I think they’re doing pretty great.” Of course, amicability isn’t necessarily a sign of reconciliation.
Mauricio seems all too happy dating around, even taking his recent flames to Kyle’s old favorite spots. As for Kyle, well, her dating status is a little hush-hush at the moment. Everyone knows the rumors about Morgan Wade. While Morgan and Kyle still seem as close as ever, the chatter isn’t quite as fiery as it used to be. So, ultimately, Teddi’s right. No one knows the future.
