The NHL's 4 Nations Face-Off event is nearly here. And these Avalanche stars are going to be front and center as they battle to impact the results of the tournament.
The NHL's 4 Nations Face-Off starts in about a week, and the Colorado Avalanche will be well-represented in the best-on-best tournament. The rosters for the tourney still could change depending on injuries, but the Avs have four stars who will be battling to win gold at the 4 Nations Face-Off, and we're going to explore who they are below.
The team that has the most Avalanche players is Canada, who will be employing Avs superstar center Nathan MacKinnon, superstar defenseman Cale Makar, and defenseman Devon Toews. MacKinnon and Makar will have many chances to impact the results of the tournament, while Toews will be looked to for smart, low-event hockey in Canada's defensive zone.
The trio of Avs gives Colorado fans plenty of reasons to tune into every 4 Nations Face-Off game, and so long as none of them get injured in the process of competing, the Avalanche are going to be thrilled to see their cornerstone components thriving against the best the planet has to offer.
Meanwhile, the other Avs star competing at the 4 Nations is left winger Artturi Lehkonen, who will be representing his homeland of Finland at the tournament. Lehkonen doesn't have to be a key contributor for the Finns, but if he does produce some offense and use his speed and tenacity to his advantage, Finland will be delighted with his performance.
All in all, the Avalanche are proud that they have so many stars competing at the 4 Nations Face-Off. This tourney will be the focus of the hockey world from Feb. 12-20, and MacKinnon, Makar, Toews and Lehkonen all have an opportunity to make their mark on the international hockey stage in an unforgettable way.
