Teen Mom fame Kailyn Lowry revealed that she feels plagued by a lot of mom guilt for ignoring her son Rio’s health.
She admitted that a year ago, she noticed a small, unusual lump above her son’s belly button. She thought it was a hernia. The doctor examined the area and confirmed it was a hernia and said it would go away on its own.
She waited for the lump to dissolve on its own as the doctor had suggested. However, things didn’t work in her favor. Kailyn has seven kids, and her youngest son, Rio, is just two years old. She shares him with her ex-fiance, Elijah Scott. Recently, the two broke off their engagement after Elijah cheated on her. They still co-parent their kids, but it seems like Rio might need surgery due to medical negligence.

Kailyn Lowry recently opened up on Lala Kent’s Give Them Lala podcast, revealing she and Elijah Scott are no longer together. They got engaged in 2024, but things fell apart. Kailyn said people often judge her for leaving her kids’ dads, but she emphasized that she had valid reasons every time. With four baby daddies and one living right next door (Elijah), her situation is far from typical.
Elijah moved back into his old house, and now Kailyn brings the kids over every other day in her wagon as part of their co-parenting routine. She clarified that she doesn’t date much before getting pregnant. “It’s not the babies” who are problematic, she said in a cryptic post. “It’s the baby daddies.” Kailyn insists she simply falls in love fast, not that she’s out “gallivanting.”

Kailyn Lowry, on her Coffee Convos podcast, revealed that she noticed a lump on her son Rio’s stomach, just above the belly button. It was small and resembled a hernia. She took him to the doctor, and he confirmed that it was indeed a hernia, which would likely resolve on its own. Initially, Kailyn thought Rio got it because of swimming. It was from the ISR swim, where he had to roll over and float on his back.
She assumed that the movement created a lot of stress on his stomach, which caused the lump to grow. She believed the doctor and went back home, but over time, she noticed the lump only grew in size. At one point, she called Elijah, and they took Rio to another doctor. A few tests revealed that it was not a hernia. The lump protruded from his abdomen and looked discolored.
For a year, the lump continued to grow, and the pediatrician told her to get a few tests. So, they went ahead with an ultrasound. Doctors believe it might be a neoplasia. Her son will also need a biopsy. When the doctor explained the risks, Kailyn said her stomach sank as a mother.
She has been experiencing a lot of mom guilt because she didn’t get a second opinion when she had the chance. She requested all her followers to get regular health checkups.
