Teen Mom's Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra Candidly Reveal Why They Haven't Had a Visit with Their Daughter Carly in 2 Years

Catelynn Lowell Baltierra and Tyler Baltierra are continuing to speak openly about their adoption story.

The couple, who placed their daughter for adoption in 2009, have candidly discussed their struggles with Carly's parents, Brandon and Teresa. On the latest episode of PodcastOne's Cate & Ty: Break It Down, the Teen Mom alum, 33, and her husband open up about the reason they haven't had a visit with their daughter, now 15, in two years.

"I posted a picture on my Instagram. It was like all of us walking and it was the back of us, and then Tyler posted one, where it was him, Carly and Nova, and it was the back of them," she explained, noting the last visit they had was two years ago. After the visit, they had a conversation with the adoptive parents, who told them the reason they were upset with the photos.

"We had the conversation, I said, 'You’ve always told me if it’s the back of her head it’s fine,' ” she continued. “It was actually Brandon who said, 'Well, I guess we’re just kind of upset about it because now MTV can’t pay us.'"

Tyler quickly added, “because it’s not an exclusive picture [and] because we did it first.”

On another episode of PodcastOne’s Cate & Ty: Break It Down, Catelynn pushed back against rumors that her husband forced her to place their daughter Carly for adoption in 2009.

"That's what blows my mind, for people to think that I would choose a man over my child," Catelynn said. "But then again for them to just think that you have no emotions or sadness or sorrow or any want."

Tyler agreed, saying, "Or that I would give you some ultimatum? That's insane."

Catelynn and Tyler are also parents to daughters Rya, 3, Vaeda, 6, and Novalee, 10. The couple has discussed Carly's parents pulling away and cutting off access to her on recent episodes of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. Catelynn and Tyler said that sending occasional gifts to their daughter was deemed "out of control and inappropriate."

Catelynn explained to producers that they would send updates every few weeks on what's going on with their girls. However, Tyler noted that many of the messages appear to never have been delivered.

The couple then realized that Carly's parents blocked Catelynn. Tyler suggested they talk to their longtime adoption counselor, Dawn, about how to navigate this. Frustrated, he lamented, "You're closing the open adoption with no explanation as to why."
