Teen Mom's Jenelle Evans Shares Update on Son Jace's Living Situation 2 Months After Moving in with His Dad in Florida (Exclusive)

Jenelle Evans’ son Jace has made a change to his living situation.

The Teen Mom star, 33, tells PEOPLE in an exclusive interview that her older son, 15, “has been back at home for a few months now" in North Carolina.

“Jace, he's doing good, he's back at home, he's not living with his father,” she says. “He’ll be starting 11th grade. And he's just been, you know, he's been getting into skateboarding recently, so that's his thing."

Evans reflected on her firstborn son growing up as he prepares to enter his junior year of high school in the fall.

“It’s really crazy because you see the transition from a little boy to a young man, and he'll be 16 in August, and it's just really crazy,” she continues. “It just flies by so quick."

"So I'm just really cherishing every moment I can before he turns 18 and decides to leave," she jokes.

The MTV alum also explained that Jace has been "working on” getting his driver’s license.

“He's definitely practicing, and I've been going with him,” she explains. “He’s a very good driver because he always drove dirt bikes, four-wheelers on our land, so yeah, he's very accustomed to driving.”

As PEOPLE previously reported in May, Evans discussed in a TikTok video her decision to send Jace to Florida to live with his father Andrew Lewis. The mom-of-three said that ultimately she had to do what was in "the best interest for my child," and believes it is a "positive thing for him."

"Jace is now staying with his father, but also his grandmother on his other side, whom he has not seen since he was a baby," she said. "You guys are looking at it as a negative situation, but everyone behind closed doors is looking at it as a positive thing for him."

"So, you guys can say all you want," Evans continued. "You can say I'm not taking care of my kids. Being a mother is doing the best interest for your child, and I am going the best interest for my child. Thank you."

Evans got engaged to Courtland Rogers in November 2012, and the couple married shortly after the next month in December. The pair split weeks later on January 25, 2013.

She welcomed son Kaiser, 11, with ex Nathan Griffith, and also shares daughter Ensley, 8, with ex-husband David Eason.

“As of right now, I think everyone pretty much knows, or if they don't know, Kaiser's father is currently in jail right now. So right now Kaiser, he's doing fine, he's here at home, he'll be going into fifth grade,” Evans also shares with PEOPLE. 

“Right now I'm in a great place and I'm just really happy,” she continues. “My kids are happy and they see how happy I am, so then it reflects back on their mental health and yeah, everything's just very calm right now.”
