The Thursday, April 25 episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter features the 36-year-old dad enlisting help from his son Bentley, 16, whom he shares with ex Maci Bookout McKinney, and partner Amanda Conner's son Brandon, 11, as he prepares to ask Amanda to be his wife.

Before setting up the moment, Ryan sits down with Brandon and Bentley to talk about the important next step.

"How do you guys feel about this new baby?" he first asks. Edwards and Conner's daughter, Presley, was born Feb. 12, 2025.

"I like it, 'cause I've never had a sister," Brandon says.

"You've never had a sister and Bentley's about ten siblings in," Ryan jokes. In addition to Bentley and Presley, Ryan is also dad to son Jagger, 10, and daughter Stella, 5, with ex MacKenzie Standifer. Bentley has another two siblings from Maci and husband Taylor McKinney, who share daughter Jayde, 9, and son Maverick, 8,

"It's gonna be pretty crazy," Bentley laughs as Ryan tells him, "You're going to need a minivan," to cart around his six younger siblings.

Ryan then moves on, explaining to the two boys, "The reason I wanted you guys here to talk to you guys was to ask you if everybody was okay if I asked your mom to marry her," he says, addressing Brandon, then adding, "And Bentley, is it okay with you if I do that."

Both boys say yes and are excited for the two. Ryan explains to them that Amanda had already seen her engagement ring and asked to start wearing it before the proposal. Ryan decides to propose with a car hose clamp instead, signifying their shared love of cars.

The proposal goes off without a hitch as the two boys watch on. After they settle down, Amanda asks if both the boys are okay with this and Ryan informs her they already talked it over.

"It really means a lot that you got your son and my son, and that y'all did this all day," she tells the three of them, as they share a moment around the fire.

In his first confessional on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Ryan gets emotional about his sobriety journey.

"Two years ago, there was not much of a future that I could imagine other than trying to get through the day. At one point in time, I didn't think I was ever going to get it, but I'm extremely happy that I found Amanda," he begins.

"I'm proud of us. Being in recovery and being a parent means a lot — to be there for everybody, to be present and just to be doing the right thing."

Ryan continues, "I'm glad that Bentley is comfortable enough to come over and hang out. That's what we've always wanted for him, so you know, I'm just glad we made it to that point. I just want to keep moving forward and just keep doing the right thing and raise these kids and just enjoy life with Amanda and stuff. It's a lot better, most definitely."

When Bentley later shares the news with Maci, she is excited for the couple's big move forward. "He finally picked the right one, and I'm not mad about it!" she laughs, adding, "If I had a stepmama, I'd want it to be somebody like Amanda too."

In a confessional, Maci then explains, "When I found out that Ryan and Amanda got engaged, I was really, really excited, you know? They each have come a long way, but they have a really good relationship. It's solid, and we all co-parent. It's what works for us, so I don't see it really changing much. I'm just excited that Amanda is going to be officially part of the family."
