Teen Mom star speaks on the fate of the MTV show amid hiatus

Teen Mom is a spinoff of 16 & Pregnant, and for a long while, the follow-up to the MTV program has been on hiatus

Teen Mom star Brittany DeJesus informed fans of the show about the status of the MTV program via a comment on TikTok.

Brittany announced on the social media platform that Teen Mom had officially been canceled. Several sources have told The U.S. Sun that Briana DeJesus’ sis claim wasn’t exactly accurate, at least not right now. "It has not been canceled, everyone is still on a filming break,” one insider revealed to The U.S. Sun. However, the source added that although the cast is on break, they haven’t been told when filming will pick back up.

Another source close to the production revealed that the show being canceled was “false.”

That insider explained that production had been waiting for MTV to greenlight a new season; nevertheless, it has not been canceled.

Brittany asserted the notion of Teen Mom being canceled in an emotional post on TikTok.

“I feel emotionally unstable today. Everything is making me cry," she shared. "Everything's making me upset. People on the internet are f- -king mean.”

Brittany later replied to a fan’s question about her financial situation, and if her sister Briana, who’s also a star on the show, would step in to support her.

Brittany replied: "I ain't broke no more because I ended up getting my money and my sister doesn't give me money, MTV gives me money LOL

She added: “But the show canceled, so bye, bye to those checks LMAO."

Teen Mom: The Next Chapter recently wrapped its second season on MTV, and cast members are speculating that it might be the end of the franchise.

The original Teen Mom debuted in 2009 as a spinoff of MTV’s 16 & Pregnant.

MTX execs are reportedly aware of when the series would officially end.

"Show executives always planned for the show to end when the original kids turned 16," a show insider told The U.S. Sun."This has been told to the cast for years. But who knows what the network will ultimately decide."

Children who were featured on the debut season of 16 & Pregnant were Bentley, son of Maci Bookout and Ryan Edwards; Leah, daughter of Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley; and Carly, the daughter of Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra, who was placed for adoption in 2009.Also, Farrah Abraham’s daughter Sophia, whose father Derek Underwood tragically passed away, is viewed as one of the original kids, despite them no longer being a part of the series.
