The NFL's edge rushers are getting bigger and faster as times goes on, but that's not the only position in which the phenomenon is occurring.
Cornerbacks are getting to be the same way with the league evolving. And one of the most notable of those who fits that criteria is Tennessee Titans cornerback L'Jarius Sneed.
The team signed Sneed in a trade for a seventh-round 2024 NFL Draft pick and a third-round 2025 NFL Draft selection late March after Sneed most recently saw the field for Kansas City Chiefs.
The level of physicality the standout defensive back brings to the table is among his many positive traits that bring some additional optimism to the secondary in Nashville.
NFL analyst Greg Cosell is among those high on Sneed's potential with just the second team of his professional career.
"The feeling in the league from a lot of coaches now is corner(back) play has superseded edge pass rushing because of the quick game dimension that the league has evolved into that you need a unique, physical press corner."
"Sneed is an animal," Cosell continued. "There's shots of Sneed from previous years. Last year he played solely on the outside because the Chiefs brought McDuffie(?) inside in their sub, whereas in the past he moved inside to slot... there are shots of (Sneed just mauling)."
Over the past four seasons, Sneed has seen action in 57 regular season games over the past four seasons, and he's recorded 10 interceptions, 6.5 sacks, and 40 passes defensed.
How he builds off of that with a change of scenery after winning multiple Super Bowls with the best team in the league will be something to keep an eye on.
