As the free agent quarterback dominos continue to fall in the NFL this week, the San Francisco 49ers have lost one of their own.
After the Pittsburgh Steelers signed Mason Rudolph, it opened a hole on the Tennessee Titans roster. On Thursday, they filled that hole with former San Fran quarterback Brandon Allen per NFL Media's Mike Garafolo.
The deal is reportedly for one year with other details unavailable.
Allen spent the past two seasons in Santa Clara and appeared in three games for the 49ers in 2024 with one start. The 32-year-old went 17-of-30 for 199 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
The signing means Allen will join Brian Callahan, who was his offensive coordinator in Cincinnati from 2020-22. Callahan is currently the head coach of the Titans.
Allen was a sixth-round pick in 2016 out of Arkansas and was taken with the No. 201 overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He didn't appear in an NFL game until the 2019 season with the Denver Broncos when he made three starts and went 1-2.
He joined the Bengals the following season and spent three years there before coming to San Francisco.
The 49ers signed free agent Mac Jones to a two-year, $7 million deal on Wednesday making Allen expendable.
