Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin will be the best wide receiver in this offense this season. Washington is very thin at the wide receiver position. If McLaurin were to get injured this season, it would spell trouble for this offense that was very limited last season.
Terry McLaurin will be the top receiving target for rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels this season. Some of the other wide receivers on the Commanders are roster Jahan Doston, rookie Luke McCaffrey, and Dyami Brown. Some of the other wide receivers will need to step up this season. They lost Curtis Samuel in free agency to the Buffalo Bills.
Washington may make a trade for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to improve the receiving room, but the odds are they won’t do that. McLaurin was also mentioned in some NFL trade rumors this offseason. The Commanders are rebuilding and they finished with a 4-13 record a season ago in the NFL.
Washington Commanders Wide Receiver Terry McLaurin Ranked In the Top 20 Wide Receivers By CBS Sports Entering the 2024 Season
CBS Sports Jordan Dajani ranked his Top 20 wide receivers entering the 2024 NFL season. He has Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin on this list at number 15. Dajani said:
“McLaurin may be the most underrated wide receiver in the NFL. He is one of just six players to record 900+ receptions in each of his first five seasons, joining Hall of Fame talents such as Mike Evans, A.J. Green, Randy Moss and Jerry Rice, and he’s accomplished this with historic quarterback turnover. The Ohio State product has crossed 1,000 receiving yards in each of the last four seasons, and already ranks eighth in franchise history in receiving yards. If Jayden Daniels turns out to be a star quarterback, don’t be shocked if McLaurin explodes in 2024. “
Last season, he caught 79 passes for 1,002 yards receiving and four touchdowns, along with averaging 12.7 yards per reception. Terry McLaurin also was targeted 132 times last season.
The Washington Commanders’ number-one wide receiver was tied for 24th in the NFL last season in receptions, 28th in receiving yards, and tied for 54th in touchdown receptions. His ranking is very controversial because those are numbers for a player who is not a Top 15 wide receiver in the NFL. Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Devonta Smith, who was ranked 18th on this list, deserves to be ahead of McLaurin.
Maybe Terry McLaurin will have better numbers this season with Jayden Daniels this season compared to the other quarterbacks he has played with in the past. McLaurin was a third-round pick from the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2019. In reality, he might be more of a number two than a number one wide receiver.
