Texans running back Joe Mixon has powerful feelings about the defense after OTAs

The Houston Texans strategically executed numerous offseason moves, aiming to maximize their potential during the new Super Bowl window with quarterback C.J. Stroud on a rookie deal. This well-thought-out approach has seen the team bolstering both their offensive and defensive sides, a move that makes perfect sense in the context of their aspirations.

Undoubtedly, the most impactful move the Houston Texans made was the trade for Stefon Diggs. This acquisition is a testament to the team's commitment to strengthening their offensive capabilities. Diggs, a seasoned player with a string of 1,000-yard seasons, is set to make a significant difference on the field.

Notably, the Houston Texans have made substantial additions to their defense. The signings of Danielle Hunter, Jeff Okudah, and C.J. Henderson, coupled with their impressive performances at OTAs, have significantly bolstered the team's defensive capabilities. The team's defensive potential is further enhanced by the addition of promising draft picks. This defensive lineup has the potential to rank among the best in the league, a prospect that has been evident in their recent performances.

"Sheesh," Mixon said. "I'm not going to lie, them guys over there, I'm glad I'm on their team. I'm glad I'm on their team. There are a lot of young, hungry guys out there. Flying around. The boys are hungry. They are really fast, and they're physical.

"So, at the point of attack, man, that's what they preach. Point of attack, attacking the football. One thing about them that I have been seeing and that I'm very impressed with is the communication that they have with each other, and two, the chemistry that they have built already."

The defense has the potential to be amazing. The addition of Danielle Hunter across from Will Anderson will be elite, and we have already seen that a bit in OTAs, where the two of them got to C.J. Stroud pretty quickly in one play. The pass rush mixed with the revamped secondary is going to be so fun to watch.

But we have to remember: We can't overreact too much, even if Mixon is hyping up the defense. What else was he going to say about the defense stinking? Also, defense in OTAs is hard to judge because they can't really hit anyone, and contact is very limited.

But you still love to hear Mixon talk so highly of the defense. They can be a fun unit to watch regardless and will likely only get better as the season progresses.
