Here's why Adam Fox and K'Andre Miller are so lethal playing alongside each other.
After Ryan Lindgren went down with an upper-body injury, Peter Laviolette took a gamble.
He decided to pair Adam Fox alongside K'Andre Miller and so far, the gamble has been paying off in a huge way.
The two defensemen compliment each other well and it’s clear when watching them that their chemistry is trending in the right direction.
“It feels great,” Miller said about playing with Fox. “I think we are doing some really good things. Offensively and defensively I think we are playing the game the right way. Getting our chances offensively from playing good defense, so overall it’s been good.”
It’s safe to say that Fox and Miller are the Rangers’ best offensively minded defensemen as it’s evident when the two are paired together.
They have the ability to create offensive chances that most defensive pairings are unable to generate by using their impressive speed and puck handling abilities.
“We are able to create and generate a little bit more offensive chances. Obviously it’s still pretty young in our D-pair relationship, but we are doing good I think.”
Through eight games, K’Andre Miller leads the team averaging 23 minutes per game with Fox trailing just behind in second averaging 22:55 minutes. Fox has already recorded an impressive eight points to start the season.
Laviolette is loving what he sees from Fox and Miller as a defensive duo.
“For me they are a top pair,” Laviolette said. “They are both able to play against top players, they are both high-end players, both have the ability to skate and make big plays. They've been playing really good. I think they compliment each other, they see the game offensively and are good defensively. “
The Fox and Miller combo should only continue to get better throughout the course of the year, which should be a scary thought for opposing teams across the NHL.
