After three consecutive wins, the Habs wanted to further distance themselves from the Rangers with a win tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Canadiens distance themselves from the Rangers with a big win against the Flyers

The Devils had helped Montreal earlier in the day with a shutout against New York.

Here are the lineups:

The Flyers scored first.

Ryan Poehling, who is having a good streak, opened the scoring against his former team.

The visitors then had a four-minute powerplay, but they didn’t take a shot.

Big effort from the Montrealers on this crucial penalty kill.

In the second period, no goals were scored, but Montreal had a much better period.

This momentum carried over into the third period. Brendan Gallagher, right from the start of the third engagement, brought everyone back to square one.

Number 11 scored his 20th goal of the season. He reached this plateau for the fifth time in his career, a first since 2019-2020.

A few moments later, Lane Hutson decided to take matters into his own hands. From one end to the other, he carried the puck and scored with a perfect shot.

His 63rd point of the season. He is now one point away from Chris Chelios and the team record.

In net, Nick Suzuki collected a point and, for the first time in his career, he is officially a point-per-game player. He has 82 points in 76 games.

The captain didn’t want to end his season with just a point-per-game. No, now he has the 90-point plateau in sight. On a penalty kill, he did all the work and scored his 27th goal of the season.

He is one point away from Alex Kovalev and the best season for a Habs player in a long time (84)…

Final score: 3-2 Habs. The Flyers reduced the gap with a few seconds left in the game, but it was too little, too late.

Martin St-Louis’ team won’t have a chance to celebrate this win for long. They’re in Nashville tomorrow to face the Predators.
