The Rangers are reportedly unwilling to trade Braden Schneider in a trade for J.T. Miller despite Vancouver's interest in him.
There is one major hurdle standing in the way of the New York Rangers acquiring J.T. Miller from the Vancouver Canucks.
The Rangers reportedly offered Mika Zibanejad in a trade proposal for Miller, but the Canucks rejected.
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, Braden Schneider is a player coveted by the Canucks, but the Rangers are unwilling to trade the young defenseman.
“I also think it was actually a bigger deal, and one of the issues is that Vancouver adores Braden Schneider, who the Rangers do not want to trade,” Friedman wrote. “This would be the second time New York has rejected a Vancouver attempt for him.”
Friedman added that it’s unclear if Zibanejad was told about this possible move despite the fact that he has a no-trade clause.
“From what I understand, they approached the Canucks to discuss what something could look like, and Zibanejad was included in the conversation. I don’t know that Zibanejad, who has a no-move clause, was ever approached,” Friedman wrote. “I asked at the time and did not receive a clear answer.”
This all comes after a reported tension between Miller and Elias Pettersson has continued to stir up a ton of outside noise in Vancouver and trade rumors involving both forwards.
