The Cubs will play two exhibition games in Japan before they face the Dodgers

They’ll face two NPB teams in advance of the Tokyo Series.

Al Yellon created Bleed Cubbie Blue and has been its managing editor since 2005. He's also written three books about the Cubs, the latest is "Chicago Cubs Firsts."

Information on the Cubs vs. Dodgers games to be played in Tokyo, Japan next March has been a bit difficult to come by, with the games now just a bit more than 100 days away.

Recently, though, two exhibition games that the Cubs will play against clubs from Japan’s NPB appeared on the Cubs website.

They’ll face the Hanshin Tigers on Saturday, March 15 at the Tokyo Dome at 12 noon local time. That’s 10 p.m. Chicago time Friday. March 14.

And then they’ll play the Yomiuri Giants Sunday, March 16, also at the Tokyo Dome, at 7 p.m. local time, which is 5 a.m. Chicago time.

It’s not clear whether either of those games will be televised back to the US market.

This Japanese-language site for the Tokyo Series recently appeared as well. Though times for the two Cubs/Dodgers games have not yet officially been posted, it appears, looking through that site, that those games will also be played at 7 p.m. local time. That means you’ll have to get up very early in the Chicago area to watch them. There will certainly be US TV coverage, though the channels have not yet been announced.

Also on that Japanese-language site is some ticketing information. Running that through Google Translate, it appears there will be some presales for Japanese Mastercard holders, as well as season ticket holders for the Yomiuri Giants. These presales will happen only in Japan. There’s also apparently a way to buy a strip of tickets for six games (the Dodgers will also play two exhibition games vs. NPB teams). All tickets will be sold via lottery. I’m anticipating there will also be a presale for Cubs and Dodgers season-ticket holders, but there hasn’t been anything official announced about that as of yet.

I’m planning on going to these games and very much looking forward to them. As always, we await developments.
