Recently, HBO's The Last of Us finally gave fans a taste of what's to come in its upcoming season 2 courtesy of a new trailer with tasty teasers, as well as the first proper looks at Kaitlyn Dever's portrayal of Abby. However, much of the clip showed off Abby in flashbacks, but fans of the sequel game did get to see that terrifying scene of her pinned under a fence by infected. Thankfully, a more thorough image has been showcased of the prominent figure in the new Last of Us season 2 posters, which also revealed Ellie and Joel.

It hasn't been an easy ride for fans who have had to wait two whole years since season 1 of The Last of Us wrapped up with that Ellie and Joel cliffhanger. Now, the horizon seems much clearer as the second portrayal of Naughty Dog’s video game is finally adapted to the screen, which will fast-forward five years with Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) in Jackson, as well as Joel’s brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna). Although season 2 seemingly won't adapt everything from The Last of Us Part 2, its episodes should cover much of its base storyline and may flesh out or add new arcs like season 1 did with Bill and Frank.

Last of Us Fan Believes Abby’s HBO Poster Gives Too Much Away

Kaitlyn Dever as Abby in The Last of Us season 2

One fan on Reddit has expressed concern about Abby's latest HBO's The Last of Us poster. As players of The Last of Us Part 2 will know, Abby is a member of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), a major faction in the game, and is considered one of their key soldiers throughout its story. Players also find out relatively early on through her backstory that Abby's father, Jerry Anderson, was a surgeon within the Fireflies, and she was raised within that group in Salt Lake City, making her a part of the organization. However, in a reply to a post about Abby's poster, user iamkhaleesi89 has expressed concern about showing Abby walking on a Firefly pendant, which they believe reveals too much about her background before season 2 even begins. "I would have preferred it to be a WLF motif vs the Firefly badge tbh. Maybe a bit spoilery IMO," stated iamkhaleesi89.

Although this detail won't matter to gamers who have played the game, as they will already know a ton about Abby and her association with the Fireflies, for those who haven't played it and have only ever watched the TV series, the pendant does showcase her tie with the group in some fashion, which could be considered a bit of a spoiler since nothing about Abby had been disclosed before in season one. Another commenter said, "Folks who aren't familiar won't have any idea how it all connects" and so it's only players that could join the dots.

Each of the posters contains the quote “Every Path has a Price” and shows Ellie walking along the neck of a guitar and Joel on his broken watch that his late daughter, Sarah, gave to him. The posters also give a slight hint at the character's journeys due to the direction that they are looking in. Neil Druckmann has claimed that Abby not being muscular in season 2 was something that the team wasn't concerned about as the storyline would be "more about the drama" than the violence witnessed in Part 2.

The Last of Us Season 2 will be released on April 13 on Max.
