The Last of Us part 3 "will be just as exciting as part 2", but Naughty Dog is in no rush

Neil Druckmann said that he had an initial idea for The Last of Us part 3, but temporarily did not prioritize it. He also determined that this would be the final piece of the current storyline.
The documentary Grounded 2: Making The Last of Us Part 2 about the making of part 2 of the The Last of Us series revealed a rather interesting detail. The director of this game series and also the co-president of Naughty Dog studio, Neil Druckmann, revealed about The Last of Us part 3 at the end of the film.

“I used to think, ‘Is there an idea?’. For years I couldn’t find that initial sketch, but now it’s different,” Neil revealed. “I don’t have a complete story, but for me this sketch is as interesting as Part 1 and as interesting as Part 2, it has its own character and it’s a thread for all three games. So there might be a third chapter to this story.”
However, Neil also said that they are not too quick to prioritize it. The way of working at Naughty Dog is very different.

Neil Druckmann has an idea for The Last of Us part 3 but is not in a hurry to make it happen

“The best thing about working at Naughty Dog is not doing it. It’s always like, ‘We would love to do another Last of Us, but if people are excited about something else, we’ll support that,’” Neil explained about balancing his personal ideas with his responsibilities as studio leader.

So, according to the owner himself, Neil had an initial idea that could be used as The Last of Us part 3, but currently the priority is not given to it. Because from this idea, it takes a lot of resources to materialize into a complete plot and then start developing the game. Therefore, Naughty Dog will continue to prioritize resources for the projects they are implementing and leave The Last of Us part 3 for later.

The Last of Us part 2 has just released a Remastered version for PlayStation 5. This is still a series that prioritizes exclusive to Sony's platform and you also need a quality headset when playing to avoid disturbing people around, especially in noisy battle scenes.
