Ellie and Dina have reached their destination, and Jeffrey Wright is ready for his debut.

We’ve officially reached the more-than-halfway point in The Last of Us Season 2—even if we still haven’t quite recovered from the (SPOILER ALERT!) brutal murder of our hero Joel (Pedro Pascal) in Episode 2, “The Path.”

Last week, we left our remaining hero Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and their trusty sidekick Dina (Isabela Merced) just as they were arriving in Seattle, where they plan to find and kill Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), the woman who murdered Joel. But they might be surprised to find out that Abby’s militia group, the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), is not a tiny startup. How will it all turn out? We’ll hopefully learn at least part of the story this weekend, when The Last of Us Season 2, Episode 4 debuts. No spoilers ahead.

What is the Release Date for The Last of Us Season 2, Episode 4?

As has been the case previously, HBO has yet to reveal the title of The Last of Us Season 2, Season 4. As we know by now, they like to keep any details of each episode pretty close to their chests. However, we do know the latest episode will arrive on Max on Sunday, May 4, 2025. It will mark the fourth of seven total episodes, which is two fewer episodes than Season 1. New episodes will drop every Sunday, and the Season 2 finale is set to air on May 25, 2025, over Memorial Day weekend.

What Time Does The Last of Us Season 2, Episode 4 Drop?

HBO shows that stream simultaneously on Max generally arrive at the same time at night rather than at midnight, as some other streamers do with new content The Last of Us Season 2, Episode 4 will begin streaming on Max at 9 p.m. EST and 6 p.m. PST—the Sunday night time slot reserved for its biggest shows, including The White Lotus and, way back, Game of Thrones.

What is the Plot of The Last of Us Season 2, Episode 4?

While we don’t know the title of The Last of Us Season 2, Episode 4, there is a preview trailer that confirms the arrival of one eagerly awaited character: Jeffrey Wright as Isaac Dixon, an ex-Marine and the merciless leader of the WLF, Abby’s group. It’s a bit of a homecoming for Wright, not only because of how many HBO projects he has appeared in (including Angels in AmericaBoardwalk Empire, and Westworld), but because he also played Isaac in The Last of Us Part II video game.

From what we see in the trailer, it seems as if we’re going to get to know a bit more about Isaac and his leadership style—which appears to be a bit sadistic (but, again, we’re only getting glimpses of moments without any real context). It also appears to be an action-packed episode that could see Ellie and Dina overmatched by Isaac and the WLF.

We don’t see any of Abby in the trailer, which could mean that any presumed face-off between her and Ellie could come later in the season.
