Pascal and showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann tease more about the upcoming episode in an interview with EW. "If we've done our jobs right, you'll feel Joel there a lot," co-showrunner Craig Mazin tells the publication about season 2 as a whole. Pascal teased that there's still more Joel to come:
"Something that I guess I do feel like keeping secret is how those things will play and where they will be placed, which I think is still a lovely thing to not know for people that watch the show."
What This Means For The Rest Of The Last Of Us Season 2
Max now shares the trailer for The Last of Us season 2, episode 6, revealing that it will continue the Ellie and Joel flashback storyline set up at the end of episode 5. The trailer teases a return to happier times between Ellie and Joel at some point in the past, but that the falling out between the pair that has happened by the start of season 2 will also be explored, with some emotional moments to come.
It's also possible that episode 6 will explore another event that an early episode of The Last of Us season 2 teased. In addition to having a conflict with Ellie, Joel had a contentious dynamic with Gail (Catherine O'Hara). It's revealed that Joel killed Gail's husband, Eugene, who is set to be played in The Last of Us' cast by Joe Pantoliano. It's possible that this flashback will play out next week, or that could end up being one saved for the season 2 finale. Either way, there is clearly lots more Joel to come.
