The Ones Who Live premiered on AMC and AMC+ on February 25, 2024. The series features the return of Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira in a reprisal of their roles as Rick and Michonne. The actors departed The Walking Dead in seasons 9 and 10, respectively, and viewers have longed for their return.
The Ones Who Live is streaming on AMC+, but this fall, it will become available on Blu-ray and DVD. Currently available for pre-order via Amazon and other outlets, the physical copies will be released on September 10. Amazon offers a pre-order price guarantee of $49.99 for the Blu-ray and $34.99 for DVD.
The fact that the physical copies title reads "Season 1" has caused speculation to whether or not this series is, in fact, a limited series. Viewers would love to see more of Rick and Michonne's story espcially since they were reunited with their children Judth (Cailey Fleming) and RJ (Antony Azor) at the end of the series. At the 2024 TCA Winter Press Tour, TWD Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple teased the possibility of more to come.
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live
The Ones Who Live has been promoted as a limited series, but with the renewals of Dead City and Daryl Dixon, fans are hopeful for more of Rick and Michonne. The Walking Dead universe already features six spinoffs, and Gimple has previously stated there are more ideas on the back burner, but the focus at the moment is the three direct spinoffs.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will premiere its second season, subtitled The Book of Carol, on AMC and AMC+ on September 29, 2024. The second installment will feature the return of Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride). Daryl Dixon has been renewed for a third and possible fourth season that are rumored to film in Spain.
The Walking Dead: Dead City began filming for its second season in April. The upcoming season is filming in Massachusetts through July and is expected to return to AMC and AMC+ in 2025.
The Ones Who Live, Dead City, and Daryl Dixon are the first direct spinoffs of the main series. Each series continues the stories of characters originally introduced in the main series.
