A career NHL and AHL ship jumper is trying his luck in the Meccah of Hockey. Today the Toronto Maple Leafs are in the news as Vinni Lettieri signs a contract with the club. The deal the forward got was a one-year agreement, worth a league minimum $775K. It is likely he will get a shot in training camp to make the squad and help the club meet roster requirements. However, if he doesn’t make the big club, they probably wouldn’t mind him dropping down to Marlies. You know, assuming he clears waivers.

Toronto Signs Vinni Lettieri for a One-Year Deal
Lettieri is originally from Excelsior, Minnesota. He was undrafted to the NHL and spent four seasons at the University of Minnesota. In addition, his senior season was quite successful, as he was nearly a point-per-game player. This would be good enough to earn him a shot at pro. In March of 2017, the Rangers signed him to his entry-level contract. As we mentioned, since that time, he’s primarily jumped between the AHL and NHL.
For a team that’s been focus on Matthew Knies, John Tavares, and even Mitch Marner, these administrative deals still need to be taken care of. They definitely secured a consummate professional with this one.
