The Valley‘s executive producer, Alex Baskin, took to his Instagram Story on Thursday night to refute a recent rumor suggesting that the series could be put on pause.
After The U.S. Sun claimed record-low ratings and Jax Taylor‘s problematic behavior, which has been aimed primarily at his estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright, 36, led Bravo to consider putting the show on hiatus and embarking on a cast overhaul ahead of season three, Alex set the record straight.
“There is NO TRUTH to this,” Alex wrote in the caption of his May 15 post, which included a screenshot of a message shared by TV Deets on X.
“Bravo is considering putting [The Valley] on pause after [season two] due to declining ratings and ‘problematic behaviour’ from the cast, The Sun reports,” the fan page had alleged.
Earlier this week, an insider had suggested that the season three cast of The Valley would likely “not be the same” as season two.
“It’s too early to say how things will go next season, they still have a lot of this season to get through but the ratings decline has been a big blow for the show,” the source shared with The U.S. Sun. “Between that and the problematic behavior of Jax, the higher-ups are weighing the options over continuing with the trajectory it’s going in or regrouping. They don’t want to enable his behavior.”
“Putting the show on pause isn’t off the table either,” the insider continued. “They’re not sure it can continue with the current way it’s going.”
According to the outlet, the premiere episode of the first season of The Valley in March 2024 received 780,000 viewers, and as the season continued, it grabbed an average of about 651,000 viewers. Season two, however, saw less viewership with just 487,000 people tuning into its premiere, and the numbers continued to drop as the series went on.
“The show cannot keep going on a downward trajectory like this. There will 100% be changes to season 3, if it does get picked up for the third season. Some people won’t return and new ones will be added. Who that will be is still to be determined,” the insider explained.
The outlet also stated that Vanderpump Rules alums Scheana Shay, 40, and Lala Kent, 34, could have larger roles on season three.
“It might be necessary to move the show forward,” the source admitted.
The Valley season two airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
