Perhaps Janet and Jason should have just kept their distance for the rest of the Maui trip. On this episode of The Valley, Kristen and Luke are high off their engagement, but it only takes one cruise from hell for things to take a sharp turn. When Janet claims that Danny sexually assaulted Jasmine and Melissa on that drunken night at the bar, Kristen loses it on Janet, “the fan…”
The presidential suite is popping off as the crew celebrates the future Mr. and Mrs. Broderick… well, everyone except for Janet and Jason, who have decided to take a step back from the day’s excitement due to prior issues with Kristen. Zack explains that he DID invite Janet and Jason to the luau for the newly engaged couple, but they opted out of the event.
Danny and Nia are noticeably missing as well, causing the jokes to begin. Jasmine wonders if Danny is “taking a nap” again, a nod to the time he passed out on the last group trip. Brittany gets salty about them not being held accountable for being late… but really, she is just hurt that they were a part of Kristen and Luke’s engagement while she did not even KNOW about it.
Once the fiancés finally arrive, Luke describes his relief since proposing, but Kristen’s new fear is keeping the proposal under wraps until they are able to let their families know the exciting news.
Zack tells Danny and Nia about the resentment among the group and points out that they should have a conversation with Brittany and Jasmine. Nia calls it a “bummer” and wonders why all the drama happens behind her back. Danny is more upset that everyone is essentially talking about them, but Nia reminds him that this night is about Kristen and Luke.
As the group disperses, the newly engaged couple enjoys a romantic evening alone while the rest of the crew meets in Brittany’s* suite. *Please note that Brittany ALSO shares this suite with Janet and Jason, who are cringing with awkwardness behind their closed bedroom door, unsure what to do now that the party has been brought back to their space. Janet claims that she does not feel comfortable staying for the remainder of the trip, but she worries about making a dramatic exit.
The next day, Kristen wakes up to a text from Jax congratulating her on the engagement. How did he know?! She is annoyed because she wanted to keep this news under wraps. Brittany admits that she told Jax, who then told the whole boys’ chat about the engagement. Brittany feigns confusion, but Kristen is annoyed.
Later, Janet talks about how awkward she felt “hosting” the group in their room the night before. She feels weird being on an engagement trip, considering how things are between her and Kristen. Janet hopes that their absence at Kristen’s party was a “gift,” and she discusses how unsteady her friendship with Kristen has been. It was not always as uncomfortable as it is now with Kristen. Back then, Kristen was one of the people who celebrated with her and Jason the minute they got engaged!
Brittany meets with Kristen to discuss big-mouth Jax, whom Kristen has since blocked. Kristen is very disappointed in Brittany’s choice to share her engagement news with Jax. Kristen proceeds to talk honestly with Brittany about Janet. She is unsure where Brittany stands when issues arise between Janet and Kristen.
Kristen is tired of being blamed for the drama when she is not the one creating it. Brittany apologizes and admits that she should stand up more for Kristen. Kristen claims that Janet is nothing to her — just a “piece of cardboard.” Despite it all, Brittany does not feel like she should pick sides.
Kristen reminds (us all) that Janet came into the group through Scheana… as a fan. It feels a little creepy to Kristen now, especially since Janet is doing the most.
The Hawaii trip is coming to an end, but not before one more group outing: a cruise. Janet decides that she will suck it up and hang out with her “friends,” despite where she stands with Kristen. Luke comes dressed as a bizarro Gilligan in a too-tight sailor outfit (who told him to wear that?), and Kristen remains cold toward Janet.
Because she simply cannot help herself, Janet asks Michelle what she ever liked about Jesse. We learn that Jesse was not always a “douche,” and he used to cook for Michelle, etc. Michelle explains that when Jesse got a little bit of money, his true colors came out #captaindouchebag.
Of course, Brittany feels bad that Janet feels like she needs to stay away from the group. Michelle sits by Janet to discuss the Jenna of it all, a girl who Aaron used to date and is now suddenly everywhere the group is. Michelle spoke to Zack about this issue the night before, and he claims that Jenna has not been planted this season. According to Zack, Janet and Scheana are the ones who are making this connection a big deal. Janet laughs it off, stating she would never intentionally bring up an ex of Michelle’s now-boyfriend.
Janet calls Zack over to find out the truth, and he brings Kristen, of all people, over as reinforcement. Kristen lets them know that Jenna has been her friend for 17 years, and Zack has known her almost as long as Scheana.
Scheana brought Janet into the 411, and now, all of the rumors and stories keep getting traced back to Scheana and Janet. Michelle tells Kristen that the first time she met Aaron, she did not have to say, “you’re friends with Jenna,” especially because Kristen knew they hooked up in the past, and Kristen owns that.
Kristen does point out that Janet’s behavior is unnecessary and that her idea of repairing the relationship is BS. Kristen flips when Janet tries to bring this back to the rumor about Jason not wearing his ring, because Kristen has already apologized for repeating what she heard. Janet feels like Kristen is a gossip, but Kristen reminds Janet she only said that because she felt like she had to protect Danny and Nia.
Kristen did not like how Janet was constantly talking about Danny’s drunken antics. Janet calmly explains that Danny “sexually assaulted” Jasmine that infamous night at the bar. Those two words take this issue to the next level. Kristen spirals, and Zack calls Janet crazy.
Kristen runs to let the group know that Janet has escalated the situation, defaming Danny’s character with slander. Kristen tells Jason what his wife just said, but Janet doubles down, claiming that the legal term for what Danny did is sexual assault.
Zack is aghast by all of this, especially because Janet just shared another time Danny was being inappropriate, claiming Danny told Jason he has a “weakness for hot girls in little skirts.” We learn that somebody’s lying because when Zack asks Jason about this, Jason has no recollection of Danny saying that line.
The thing is, Janet was not there when things occurred with Jasmine. Danny reminds Jason and Janet that he has already apologized for his behavior, and Kristen is sick of Janet speaking for Jasmine and Melissa. Clearly, Melissa is sick of it, too, because she stands up and lets the entire group know that they are done with the whole situation.
The Kristen/Janet fight ensues. Janet wants Kristen to get her “weird hands” out of her face, and she claims that SHE was not the one who brought up the Melissa and Jasmine issue during their confrontation. Kristen demands that Janet get off the boat, as it is her engagement weekend, and she threatens to knock Janet’s a*s out. She reminds Janet that she is just a fan, and in true Janet form, she congratulates Luke on his forever. Crazy Kristen or Crazy Janet? You choose…
